Hey Smashers. Plasmaster here.

If you haven't heard yet, Project M is officially shutting down. I myself was never a big fan of it and heck, I never even played it, but it is still saddening to see such a large, popular, and monumental part of Smash history being shut down for good.

To be honest, I liked Brawl a lot. Then again, I didn't own any of my own systems, so the only time I got to play Smash was over at my friend's house, so I was never into the game all that competitively. Today my whole viewpoint has changed; I find I am training a lot more with Smash characters than ever before, playing with friends before school, with NyanMeowstic organizing tournaments for the gaming club at school and everyone entering in the tournaments with their mains. I had never been big on the tournament scene of Smash until Smash 3DS came out. Today I find that I am loving the tournament scene more and more. At first I found myself worried, thinking I had to get back to my old casual ways so that I wouldn't lose the sense of fun about the game. After a while I discovered that this was simply the new norm for me, that this was the way I played Smash now, and I still had fun doing it.

I like Melee as a game, I really do; what I don't like is the fanbase, the hardcore part of the fanbase to be more specific. I didn't like how they rejected all the other Smash games just because they weren't Melee. Don't get me wrong, I'd still play Melee today if I had the opportunity, but not competitively. That was another reason I didn't play Project M. I thought Project M was changing Brawl to make it more like Melee, and it was, but that was still the big reason I didn't have any interest in playing it.

Even so, rest in peace Project M.

Let me know what you guys think. Do you agree with my views on competitive Smash v. casual Smash? Are you sad to see that Project M will not be continuing, or are you content with where it was, or do you just not care much? Please tell me in the comments, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Until next time, keep on WAVEDASHING and leave it to Heropon.
