I said I was gonna main a lot of characters when SSB4 was in development, but the Mii Brawler has been one of the few to stick with me after I actually got the game. I love playing as me, despite the fact I can't play it online and that I get some frowns when I play locally.

I'm currently in the process of figuring out the best special move combination for MB, so I'll lay out my perceived strengths and weaknesses for each attack. If you favor a certain move, share it in the comments, it may help me out a lot.

Neutral Special:

  1. Shot Put: MB's only projectile attack and one of a few spacing options. However, it's really slow, and most CPUs are able to easily dodge it while taking advantage of the lag to hit me.
  2. Ultimate Uppercut: A powerful uppercut performed at close range, unlike its two counterparts it can be charged. However, you have to be in exactly the right position to nail it, and even when I have nailed it the results have usually been less than satisfactory.
  3. Exploding Side Kick: A fiery kick. It's pretty powerful and a decent finisher. Like UU, it has short range, and it can't be charged or cancelled, leaving you open to attack in the first part of the move. However, right before the kick you gain Super Armor, allowing you to absorb enemy attacks and retaliate right back. I've even withstood a Falcon Punch. It works pretty well when started in the air, at least for me.

My choice: Exploding Side Kick. Probably not gonna change it.

Side Special:

  1. Onslaught: Overall, this is a pretty good combo-and-approach option. No real weaknesses that I've seen so far.
  2. Burning Dropkick: This attack has serious power and great range, and is a pretty reliable hit and sometimes a finisher. It's also one of the MB's best horizontal recoveries. However, it has high ending lag, putting you at a disadvantage if the opponent shields you, and if you fly off the ledge, you may fall too far for your Up Special to help. Also unfortunately can't be charged infinitely.
  3. Headache Maker: Haven't used this a whole lot. Not much horizontal approach here, but a good aerial move. However, pretty easy to SD with.

My choice: Burning Dropkick

Up Special:

  1. Soaring Axe Kick: The move is good offensively, and the first jump goes higher than I expected. However, the fall is more of a problem.
  2. Helicopter Kick: This ain't a bad attack move, as the final kick does some pretty good knockback. However, this sucks as a vertical recovery. BAD. I couldn't even reach some platforms that were basically my height above me! Probably the best horizontal recovery out of the bunch, but that's not saying much.
  3. Piston Punch: While still kind of lacking in the recovery department (especially horizontal), distance-wise it's superior to Helicopter Kick. It's also a nice finisher.

My choice: Piston Punch

Down Special:

  1. Head-On Assault: Barely used this so can't say much about it.
  2. Feint Jump: This move is quite the blessing, allowing me a sidestepping option other than, well, sidestepping. The kick afterwards is a useful tool that can shake a relentless enemy. However, for some reason I tend to forget about it. It's also easy to SD sometimes.
  3. Foot Flurry: A decent approach option, but doesn't really bring anything new.

My choice: Feint Jump
