Now that the full roster has finally been OFFICIALLY revealed, I think it's time to look at it and think "Should this character remain in Smash?" So in this blog, I'll list my top choices for SSB4 characters that should/might be removed.
Lucina[]
Not surprisingly, she is my top choice. Sakurai and co. originally intended to make her a palette swap of Marth, and the only reason she's in SSB4 is because she deals damage differently. Also, it was revealed in one of Pit's smash taunts that one of the main reasons Chrom was not made playable was because he would've been too much of an Ike clone, so hopefully that logic will be applied to Lucina and she will be replaced with a character from the next Fire Emblem game.
Dr. Mario[]
A little iffy on this one, but I really would like him to be removed again. The Mario series didn't need another rep, much less a clone. While I'd be OK if Mario had more reps, a clone shouldn't be one of them. I think either Paper Mario or Kamek would be better choices, and Mario could get Dr. Mario's strength and power and actually become good.
Dark Pit[]
By now you must be thinking, "Wow, DerpyDoodle hates clones." And you are correct. However, my hatred of clones does not really factor into my decision. And I have to admit, I actually like Dark Pit. He was one of the best characters in Uprising. However, he doesn't have much of a life of his own in SSB4, and so I think it may be better to replace him with Magnus or Medusa. However, I'm all for him staying, and Kid Icarus has a ton of different weapons which the development team could add. Unfortunately that's unlikely, so Dark Pit is on my "out" list.
Toon Link[]
I like Toon Link. I play as him rather often and think he's much superior to Link. However, The Legend of Zelda is teeming with characters that deserve a chance in Smash, and it don't look like Toon Link's moveset will change anytime soon. So while I would prefer changing his moveset above all, if that doesn't happen I support him getting replaced.
Greninja[]
I'm probably gonna get so much hate for this, but Greninja is on my cutting board. Why? Though he is a popular and well-known Pokemon, I think his main role in SSB4 was to represent Generation VI. By the time SSB5 comes out, we could be very well in Generation VIII, in which case I would prefer a rep from that generation. It would be cool if Greninja remained as a Poke Ball Pokemon though.
