Unova Pokémon League (イッシュポケモンリーグ Isshu Pokemon Rīgu?) is a new stage introduced in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This is where Jigglypuff is unlocked.

Stage description[]

The basic structure of the stage consists of a main platform which reaches the bottom of the stage and two raised soft platforms on both sides.

However, at times, N's Castle rises in the background. This summons two ramps which crash into the sides of the stage, impacting characters they hit, then becoming solid platforms that lead at angles up to the side blast lines. Afterwards, Reshiram or Zekrom will fly in to attack. The ramps will disappear either as destruction by the dragon, or else after a set time when the dragon leaves.

Reshiram can attack by summoning flames, which can:

  • Cover portions of the right, left, or both sides of the field
  • Cover the centre areas of the field, making it difficult to get to opponents on the opposite side.

Zekrom can attack by shooting a ball of electricity, which can:

  • Deal damage and heavy knockback to either side of the stage, as well as destroy the ramp it hits.
  • Deal damage and heavy knockback to either side of the stage and tilt the full stage, which resets and removes the ramps after about 30 seconds.

Whimsicott, Milotic and Shaymin can also appear in the background. However, they have no gameplay effect and just fly away, with Shaymin changing from its Land Forme to its Sky Forme.

Origin[]

Ncpl

The Unova Pokémon League as it appeared in Pokémon Black and White. N's Castle can be seen in the background, connecting to the Pokémon League.

In Pokémon Black and White, the Unova Pokémon League is the location of the region's Elite Four and the Champion, who may only be challenged after defeating all eight Unova Gym Leaders. It is located on a large hill north of Victory Road and it requires traveling through a mountain to reach the entrance. Once the player has defeated the Elite Four, the player will find that N (Full name; Natural Harmonia Gropius, the king of the villainous Team Plasma) has defeated the Champion Alder and at that moment, N's Castle will rise from the ground behind the Pokémon League. N will run back into the castle and the player must chase after N and stop Team Plasma from using the Legendary Dragon Pokémon (either Zekrom or Reshiram, depending on the version the player is playing) to take over the world. As the name implies, the castle is owned by N. Zekrom or Reshiram can be caught here, depending on the game, as well as being Team Plasma's supreme headquarters.

Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 take place two years after the original Pokémon Black and White games. Within these two years, the previous Victory Road leading up to the Pokémon League has been shut off and a new one was built. Deep within this new Victory Road, the player can find the remnants and ruins of N's Castle which has been closed off into a cave to prevent people from getting inside. N still resides in here, despite the castle being in ruins and will challenge the player to a battle every month.
