  • Alright, so I'll hopefully be promoted to admin soon, and this will bring the total to five admins. For a few days now, I've been thinking about my recent experiences on this wiki and came to the conclusion that we should appoint another bureaucrat.

I'm not trying to call anyone out here, but appointing another bureaucrat, especially if they're one of the more active admins, will increase efficiency on this wiki by a lot. If the wiki needs a bureaucrat to step in and one of them hasn't been active, the other one can swoop in and help.

If we go forward in appointing another bureaucrat, I would nominate Oscuritaforze for the job.

    • I second the nomination for Oscuritaforze. Ultraman isn't as active as he once was, and having another person with the ability to promote others would certainly be beneficial (there have been a number of requests that have succeeded, yet nothing could be done about the proper promotions).

    • Even though I'm not an admin I'd like to throw in some support for this.

    • I was actually intending to step down once Derpy and David's RfAs were fully closed, as I had only intended to stay as an admin here until the wiki was more-or-less stabilized and trending towards flourishing rather than declining. As a result, I don't think I should be considered for bureaucratship unless the community feels that I am the only one of the current admins who would fit the role (which, IMO, would be an insult to the other admins).

As for my personal opinion on who should be promoted: I haven't seen Yorky around recently, so I would propose either promoting Z or skipping Derpy straight to admin + bureaucrat.

    • We'll all be sorry to see you go, Os.

I would accept the position of bureaucrat if I was selected, though I think Z would be better since he has more experience.

    • Well, that certainly was not the response I expected from Os, but I'm afraid his mind is made up. I would accept the position of bureaucrat although I would not be opposed if Derpy wanted the role. We'll have to discuss this further.

    • It's going to be different here without you as an admin, Os.

Even though I'm becoming more active and will continue to be in the upcoming weeks, I'll eventually become in-active again so having another bureaucrat wouldn't be a bad idea but I don't know who.

Os is stepping down, Derpy was just promoted, Z just returned, and Yorky has been in-active like me recently.

Out of the remaining admins I would pick Derpy as he's super active but I would wait about a month (Late February/Early March) to promote him as he just became admin.

    • Sounds OK to me

    • Hey guys. School has really been bogging me down lately. So for this reason, I haven't been able to really edit here frequently unless I am on a break. If anyone is to be promoted, it should be DerpyDoodle or Zmario. Once I find a time that I can edit here again, then you can consider promoting me to an upper position.

    • I'm just asking, what do I have to do to get promoted?

        Loading editor
    • Here is the criteria that was made a while back:

      - You have to have more then 300 edits.

      - You have to have been a member of the Wiki for more than two months.

      - You have to be active (four times a week is good) and it can be for anything (talk pages, forums, pages, etc), just don't keep editing your user page every day and count those as being active.

      - You can't have any active warnings aka you can't have any warnings in the last four months.

If you meet these requirements and make a request for adminship and you get a clear consensus of support, then you'd get promoted

    • I meet 3/4 points

    • Since tomorrow is February, does that count as two months or do I have to wait until February 26th?

        Loading editor
    • I'm not sure

Just because you fulfill those requirements, however, doesn't mean you automatically become admin material. With the exception of Ultra and Os, who showed leadership early on during the wiki's fork, most admin candidates should have a lot of experience so they can handle anything. Me, Yorky, and Zmario edited for several months (years in Z's case) before becoming admins, which helped us learn a lot about how the wiki works so we can handle any problem coming our way.

A good step to becoming an admin, also, would be to gain rollback status first.

    • Are the requirements the same for Bureaucrats and Rollbackers?

        Loading editor
    • Rollbackers yes I think

Bureaucrats are administrators that have the ability to change peoples' rights, so that's a special category

    • (You can also read more at SP:RFA, SP:ADMIN, and SP:ROLL.)

    • Rollback is similar to admin however Bureaucrats are normally chosen whenever we need one and not something we just promote users to, you would have to be an admin first then wait till we are looking for another.

    • Alright, so it's been a while, and I think it would still be a good idea to do this. While nothing major has come up that directly required a bureaucrat's intervention, I am of the opinion that we need more rollbacks, and while it's entirely up to the users to request them, having another bureaucrat would be good if a qualified user is requesting rollback (or even if one requests for adminship) and one of the bureaucrats is inactive.

Maybe a little late, but I second this. Having two bureaucrats would probably be a good number for a wiki of this size.
