What the Dojo shows and the E for All videos show contradict each other. One shows enemies flying away at impct, another shows that they only take damage with little impact. Which should we go with? Or should we go with both?--Oxico 10:32, December 15, 2007 (EST)

It's a little hard to explain. What Pikachu does in the E3 video is discharge electricity with an attack button (I don't know whether it's standard or special) when he hits Mario and DK, which causes major knockback. Running into them would simply build up their damage a little. Teamrocketspy621 11:20, December 15, 2007 (EST)
Ah I see. So the high knockback in the Conference video is attributed to a special move. So should we put this on, or just leave it as speculation, since I have not seen any proof?--Oxico 11:58, December 15, 2007 (EST)

Volt Tackle Mechanics[]

I believe that the actual Volt Tackle ball (or Pikachu) is not actually controlled by the player; the player actually controls a "focus" point that Pikachu is constantly pulled toward, a little like a fusion between a spring and a pendulum.

If done with a Smoke Ball (the trivia note is a little off, by the way, the smoke doesn't actually come from the electric orb), the Smoke Ball doesn't actually go around together with the Volt Tackle, but mostly remains right in the center of where the Volt Tackle is moving around. This is especially evident if no attempt is made to control Pikachu after the Final Smash gets going - all movements seem to be caused by an attraction toward the Smoke Ball, overshooting, and a counter-attraction in the other way to bring it back.

Moving the control stick moves the smoke ball itself, and especially notable is its inability to pass through a solid surface, which is why Pikachu itself can't get trapped inside a box. The end part of the Final Smash is just a reduction of the elasticity between Pikachu and the focus, as marked by the Smoke Ball.

Maybe someone should confirm that. :V 67.244.119.60 07:52, July 6, 2011 (UTC)
