Seriously, I've faced this guy in every Wi-Fi match I've played, and half of my Random enemies, and I've owned them all with Bowser, Wolf, Pit and Ike. I even owned him with Ganondorf once! Plus, I don't think he deserves a slot in Brawl, because he's just a faster, weaker, lighter, suckier Link clone. Falco and Ganondorf may be clones of Fox and Captain Falcon, but at least they have their differences now (Like Falco kicking his Reflector, and Ganon's now Side Special).

Toon Link does have some differences to normal Link:
 +
1. His upsmash is one slash instead of normal Link's three.
 +
2. His neutral smash (Hero's Bow) travels further.
 +
3. His Triforce Slash is slower and more fluid.
 +
4. His taunts are different.

There's four, but I'm sure there's more. BlackMario (talk) 22:32, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I would have preferred Midna, or a combination of Midna and Wolf Link. Or just have only three Zelda characters, and put Roy back in (Marth AND Roy brought their series to the U.S.), or put Bowser Jr and Geno in. Come on, Mario deserves six representives! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.67.185.6 (talk • contribs) 14:11, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Revision as of 22:32, 18 February 2009

Why didn't they give him some unique moves? You know, like Gust Jar or Cane of Pacci or Wind Waker? Some times, these people are so uncreative. -- 15:27, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Hold on a sec. (^not you) I'm confused. The article says post-SSE, Link, but I did it with Sonic. I'm lost. (but Cane of Pacci would be funny to watch) MidnightCeltic 01:59, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Uh.......please talk normally so people know what your talkign about. I'm having a hard time understanding! Zmario 20:00, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Can anyone confirm that most characters will NOT work for unlocking Toon Link? (i.e. you actually beat classic with a different character before unlocking him and he didn't challenge) I'm just asking b/c the first time I beat Classic was with Marth right after beating SSE and Toon Link challenged. For now, I'll add Marth to the list of characters who you can use to unlock him. --Sarda The Sage 22:04, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

P.S.: Just noticed that the "Role In Subspace Emissary" section says you can unlock him by beating Classic after SSE with any character as an alternative method. I'll just edit out the "Link or Zelda" bit, and unless someone can actually confirm that certain characters don't work, we'll leave it that way. --Sarda The Sage 22:08, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Any character works. My friend accidentaly did it with jigglypuff once. Then Wolf. ~Crystal_Lucario 22:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Not able to unlock after Luigi

Errrrr... you have to get him after Luigi and there is more ppl between the so unless you did 400 vs. Modes but not 22 or beat SSE without Luigi how do we know for sure...~CrystalCrystallucarioLucario~ ~EM~ ~S~ ~UP~ ~Sign~ 22:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Umm, no. You can unlock him having Luigi in your roster, just beat classic with any character after unlocking Luigi the same way. BlackMario (talk) 22:26, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Differences between Young Link (Hero of Time) and Toon Link (Hero of Winds)

It's a legit section, but it needs to be in a formal list like other character's "Differences from Melee to Brawl" sections. --Phred 23:29, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I changed around the format to fit the way Phred was talking about.Phildisaster 00:35, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Can we clean up his pros a little?

Toon link might be a fantastic character, but his pros list is way too huge! Could we shorten the list a little to some thing along the lines of this?

 • Has multiple, useful, versatile projectiles.
 • Smashes are quick with high knockback.
 • Fast walking and running speeds.
 • Fast, high priority, long-ranged attacks.
 • Extremely good aerials.
 • Has a Ranged grab.
 • Small target.
 • Several approaches.
 • Hard to approach due to his long ranged sword attacks and projectiles.
 • Good Juggler.
 • Several attacks that hit on all sides.
 • Excellent at edgeguarding with many techniques.
 • Good Tilts.
 • Throws are all decent combo starters.
 • Can perform a type of Fence of Pain with aerials.
 • Is able to Quickdraw his arrows.
 • Boomerang has a good Wavebounce.
 • His Spin Attack ensnares the enemy for the entire duration, causing a moderate amount of damage while essentially guarding himself from some attacks.
 • Has multiple recovery techniques. Can Recover normally with Up-B, Use his hook shot (grab) as tether recovery, wall jump, or can recover via bombs (Bomb recovery).
 • All non-special moves provide good spacing, which leaves many opportunities for smashes.

I know that what I've made is pretty short and somewhat blunt (although a pros and cons should really just be an outline for a characters strengths with the rest of the article highlighting them and showing how to use them), but we really need to get rid of the giant wall of text his current one is!

Any suggestions? TheSMASHTyke 00:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I cleaned it up a bit, that was a truly insane amount of pros all about his d-air.Entrea Sumatae 00:33, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your help.TheSMASHTyke 00:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I agree it really needs cleaned up badly. Some of the info really needs to be placed in a strategies/combo section. For goodness sake there are a least two pros for every aerial attack he has.-_-'Phildisaster 14:53, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Bomb tip

Not a good tip imo... remove?

FYI the tip is/was "when using a diar, pull out a bomb, then throw it down, then dair for a sure hit" it was probably added by like a 12 yr old though... by the spelling. - Ashran111 (talk) 04:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I was thinking a 10 year old. But I thought about removing it when i edited it. Carbonkirby (talk) 04:07, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

 1. If he's so cheap, why don't you use him then?
 2. Why does the Marioverse deserve 6 characters and the Zelda franchise only get 3? What about Pokemon, or Mother, or Metroid? Damn, man, Samus has been all alone since the beginning!
 3. I agree he is a total Link clone, but I still want him in, just with different attacks. Why do you start with "cheap bastard" and then imply that he's WORSE than the other link? BTW wolf link would have been cool. Or Masked Link (works like Pokemon Trainer?)
 4. Ganondorf and Falco don't really qualify as clones anymore.
 5. Geno is third party. Cool as he is, it's unlikely, given Square's stranglehold on him. - Gargomon251 (talk) 16:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
 1. Simple. I prefer using characters that require this thing called skill to be effective.
 2. Ridley would have been cool. Or maybe Dark Samus. Think about it.
 3. When I'm mad, I have the tendency to not check.
 4. your right. They're pseudo-clones.
 5. Sadly. He would have owned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.67.185.6 (talkcontribs) 01:50, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Woah, woah, woah. Cheap? Toon Link is one of the top technical characters in SSBB. You aren't playing good Toon Links. Search Santi on youtube. He shows just how Toon Link was made to play.

As for a "Link" clone, I agree with you somewhat. They made a LOT better approach with him though than they did with Young Link. Very notable differences than link. Can meteor smash opponents. He's much more of an effective character than Link (who's almost has the same level of tech as TL) if you use him right and DID deserve to be in Brawl. At least give the Sakuria props for taking a better approach with him than they did Young Link mega-clone imo. --Urdailywater
