Update the site[]
Hey, I don't what's going on, but this Wiki is kind of dead which is weird since the new Super Smash Bros was just announced. The front page hasn't been updated in months and I don't think I've ever seen a different featured article on it. Many of the pages are sloppy and I even found some remnants of that griefer attack on the wiki. In my opinion this wiki needs a once over to make sure the articles are good and up to date and to get some new life into this wiki.

- This wiki has largely refocused on fanon since the split years ago. We can still have information on SSB4, but we should not make the scope of this wiki disproportionate. Mr. Anon (talk) 06:01, June 16, 2013 (UTC)
- If this Wiki is focusing primarily on Fanon, than I highly suggest changing the name of the site. This is still The Super Smash Wiki. If this is for Fanon, it should be called the Super Smash Fanon Wiki or something to that extent. If not, a Fanon wiki should be created and the Fanon portions of this wiki should be moved. Peter 10 (talk) 07:02, June 16, 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry to interrupt, but there is already a fanon wiki: Super Smash Bros. Fanon. ♠ ♦ Animal Crossing Leader ♥ ♣ 15:07, August 10, 2013 (UTC)
- This isn't only a fanon wiki, it just happens to allow fanon, and Wikia's allowed duplicate-subject wikis before.
- Also, your sig is ridiculously huge. Change it. Toomai Glittershine 15:40, August 11, 2013 (UTC)

The fanon articles should be removed. Focusing on fanon in main space is just ridiculous and will only lead to confusions from readers. There really is no good reason for it. Oni Dark Link 16:39, August 11, 2013 (UTC)
- How is it "confusing"? There are templates that clearly mark which articles are fanon. I3rian3 (talk) 18:36, August 11, 2013 (UTC)
Which depends entirely on people reading the templates. Even having it in rcent changes would draw confusion. People come here looking for information on the actual games. If they wanted to actually look at fanon then there's a perfectly good fanon wiki for them to visit. Oni Dark Link 22:27, August 11, 2013 (UTC)
- Is it confusing or are you just stupid? People might come here looking for fanon too. This is the SmashWiki, not the Smash Canon Wiki. I3rian3 (talk) 01:14, August 12, 2013 (UTC)
- We are not removing fanon. The community decided long ago on keeping fanon content in this wiki, and we will enforce that decision. Mr. Anon (talk) 04:12, August 12, 2013 (UTC)
Rename?[]
I think we could boost interest by giving this place an interesting rename. Something like "The Trophy Vault", or "The Sticker Centre", or something else new and different. Ideas/opinions? Toomai Glittershine 00:10, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
I like trophy vault...felinoel 14:01, August 10, 2012 (UTC)- I agree with the idea of "The Trophy Vault" as the new name. Mr. Anon (talk) 00:28, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

- Just a heads up, that will hurt your SEO and result in less people coming here. - Wagnike2 (talk) 19:42, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
- We're currently competing for SEO with SmashWiki (on my end the top results for common searches are going back-and-forth between the two, which can't be good for casual searchers); this is to help alleviate that.
- Another option I've been informed of is the name "Smashpedia", as this would match Wikia's Spanish Smash Bros. wiki. Toomai Glittershine 21:47, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
- I think that "Smash Universe" is an appropriate name because this wiki covers all aspects of Smash, including fanon and machinima. My second choice would be Smashpedia, because it sounds spiffy. VoleVanquisher (talk) 03:39, August 16, 2012 (UTC)

- How is Smashiverse punny? It is just merging of two words, this is a very common practice, how do you think Pokemon got its name? It was originally named two words but then they merged them. ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 15:08, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

- Yes, that's what for lack of a better term comes in. It's not "punny", but it sorta sounds like it's trying to be clever (with wordplay) so it sorta souns punny in a way. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 22:15, September 7, 2012 (UTC)
- I don't follow... how is it wordplay? ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 17:40, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
- Depends on your definition of the word, but the fact that we're taking "Smash" and "universe", then merging them into our own word is what I mean. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 22:41, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

- I also have a bigger reason, but it would only work if you know what i'm referencing, as I have no idea weather or not it's a popular thing. Ever look at someone and think they look like a(n) *insert name here*? For example: I know of someone who got the nickname "Walter" for saying he looked like one, and everyone agreed. The "i" in "Smashiverse" that makes the e sound doesn't really sound very "Smash like." Again, I don't know if this is a popular thing or not, but I think it is, just didn't say it in case no one here knew what I meant. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 00:14, September 13, 2012 (UTC)
- I have no clue what you are talking about... but I think you are saying you don't like my username... no fair I thought it up when I was ten... >.>
- Why does Smashiverse use any hard e sound anywhere? Pronounce it like universe but without the un. ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 13:50, September 13, 2012 (UTC)
- K, well just take the kid in my example. "Smash Universe" sounds more "Smash-bros-y". universe without the "un" doesnn't sound "Smash-bros-y" either.
- Also, your username's fine. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 22:11, September 13, 2012 (UTC)
- I have no clue what you are talking about, and no my username isn't fine it is apparently punny and uses wordplay. ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 12:44, September 14, 2012 (UTC)
- I never said "all puns are bad", just certian ones are. It's like if someone tells a bad joke. Does that mean you hate jokes? Of course not. And again, I only inserted "punny" and "wordplay" for lack of better terms. It's not a straight-up pun. And I know you may not have any idea what i'm talking about, but you can use the example I gave you about "Walter". TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 23:33, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

- For the record, why doesn't Smashpedia fall under this too? Since Smashpedia is just the 'punny' amalgam of Smash and Wikipedia? ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 16:19, October 9, 2012 (UTC)
- Like I said before, I don't hate all puns/jokes, especially since Smashiverse is hardly a pun and uses minimal wordplay. In the case of Smashipedia, it's fine. But if you're curious (which you most likely aren't) I don't like Smashipedia is good because putting -pedia after something has been done to death. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 00:26, October 11, 2012 (UTC)
- So... you don't like it and you complain about the other one instead of the one you don't like? ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 20:03, October 15, 2012 (UTC)
- The reason for that is that if you read the above discussion, people were more talking about Smashiverse. Giving my opinion on Smashepedia would be a complete waste of time if noone's talking about it. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 22:55, October 15, 2012 (UTC)
- Since the issue was the exact same thing mentioning both would have only made sense and would in no way have been, "a waste of time." ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 18:55, October 16, 2012 (UTC)
- No, it would've been. Look at the previous discussion. No one even brought up Smashipedia. The main topic was Smashiverse. Therefore, I felt it necessary to give my opinion on Smashiverse. Not Smashepedia, I see no reason too. Also, it being a "pun" isn't even the "issue." Just the fact that it's on pretty much every Wiki.

TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 00:26, October 11, 2012 (UTC)
- I don't even "dislike" Smashepedia really, it's just not nearly as good as Smash Universe, so I don't favor it as our name is what I meant. In other words: It's not "bad", it's just not that good either. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 20:43, October 20, 2012 (UTC)
- I brought it up now cuz it's somewhat relevant. Bringing it up back then would have been pointless, as you couldn't have used it for anything. It'd be like giving my opinions Sticker Centre of Trophy Vault right now. There's not anything you could've used if for. Is there? TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 00:09, October 24, 2012 (UTC)
- That's missing the point. Yes, you're right, I could have. I didn't feel the need to give my opinion on it. Afterall, can you give me a good way you could have used the information?
- Another thing, it's not applicable because it's the merging of two words. The subject isn't "what I think of the names that are the merging of two words," it's the ones that were being brought up that I had a conflicting opinion on. That's Smashiverse, not Smashepedia.TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 00:46, October 25, 2012 (UTC)
- You were wondering so you asked. Also, you wondering why I didn't include it is more of a misinterpretation, so I don't see how I could've known that.
- Simply being the merging of two words isn't the problem. It wasn't done well. For example, if one game gives you optional side missions, and the other gives you countless, long side missions you need to do, the problem isn't with side missions themselves, but with the fact that they wern't executed well. Same applies here, the problem isn't with it being the merging of two words itself, but that it came off sounding dumb IMO. That's what I was getting at. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 01:49, October 26, 2012 (UTC)
- So what if they're comletely different? It's an adverb. Also, if you like it then that's fine, but I think i've made my case at least clear enough. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 15:33, October 27, 2012 (UTC)
- Should we end it now? TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 22:31, October 30, 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I said maybe one week like a month ago, so i'd say so... TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 23:31, October 31, 2012 (UTC)
- So, has a decision ben made? (Check out my first wiki, ttp://pressbu.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Integration_Example_One; put an h at the beginning, the link was having trouble) 21:51, November 1, 2012 (UTC)
- Eeyup, looks like we're closin' it. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 02:52, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

I've moved the choices to below. We can't decide what constitutes "enough" if people don't vote. Once we have demonstrable support for one or even two choices, we can decide how to proceed from there. fromsmashwiki, you should move your vote to the section below.
Seba 20 90 (talk) 02:15, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
I just want to say that the name "SmashPedia" is already used by the spanish Wiki. You can see it there -> [1] "Todo lo que se ha creado tiene su propósito" 22:33, December 22, 2013 (UTC) Kanato Izumiya

Try to choose one name. The voting lasts until we get enough votes. VoleVanquisher (talk) 06:59, September 12, 2012 (UTC)
- What constitutes, "Enough" then? That would be a rule that would be good to be decided. ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 13:49, September 12, 2012 (UTC)

If after some more time, (1 week?) no one votes, then maybe we can close it, as it is on the front page, making it conspicuous enough IMO. TheAwesomefroggy (talk) 00:18, September 13, 2012 (UTC)
