Squirtle is a veteran fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, first playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It was confirmed during Nintendo's E3 2018 presentation.

• Neutral Attack: Squirtle punches once, then jumps forward and slaps with the tail, then flips forward and hits with the tail again.
• Forward Tilt: Squirtle gets on all fours and slaps forward with its tail.
• Up Tilt: Squirtle hops onto its tail, thrusting upward.
• Down Tilt:
• Dash Attack: Squirtle runs, turns around while jumping, and hits with the back of its shell.

Smash Attacks

• Forward Smash: Squirtle quickly lashes a torrent of water in front of itself.
• Up Smash: Squirtle points upwards as two torrents of water burst upward on either side of it.
• Down Smash: Squirtle withdraws into its shell and spins, shooting water out of both sides.

Aerial Attacks

• Neutral aerial: A midair cartwheel.
• Forward aerial: Thrusts both legs forward, hitting quickly. Produces a corkscrew of water.
• Back aerial: Squirtle spins in a horizontal corkscrew while stretching out its tail. Multi-hit.
• Up aerial: Flips upward, using its tail to knock opponents vertically.
• Down aerial: Thrusts the tail downward, spinning around in a multi-hit attack.

Grabs and Throws

• Pummel: Headbutts the opponent.
• Forward Throw: Puts the opponent in front of it, then kicks them.
• Back Throw: Puts the opponent behind it, and kicks their back.
• Up Throw: Throws its opponent upward and tackles them while in its shell.
• Down Throw: Throws its opponent on the ground and slams on top of them.

Tips

• Squirtle's Origins: Squirtle debuted in Pokemon Red and Blue, released in North America in 1998. it's a Tiny Turtle Pokemon that excels at Water-type moves.
• In Its Series: Squirtle is one of three Pokemon you can get from Professor Oak in Pokemon Red and Blue. Squirtle was one of the few Water-type Pokemon you could get until you got a Fishing Rod.
• Water Gun (Neutral Special): Squirtle shoots water from its mouth to push opponents away. It doesn't do any damage, but it's great for interfering with opponents trying to return to the stage.
• Withdraw (Side Special): Spin across the ground quickly to tackle opponents. Squirtle won't take damage while it is in its shell.
• Advancing with Withdraw (Side Special): Tilt the control stick in the opposite direction of the movement to shorten the distance you slide. If you hit an opponent or their shield, you will be reflected.
• Withdraw's Weakness (Side Special): If Squirtle gets stepped on from above, it will flip over and become completely vulnerable. Squirtle can't move until it gets back up, leaving you wide open to attack.
• Waterfall (Up Special): Tilt the control stick forward or backward while rising up to slightly change the angle you rise. It can be used as a recovery move, but it can also be used to attack opponents above.
• Triple Finish (Final Smash): The three Pokemon combine their powers for this Final Smash. Squirtle's Hydro Pump is wide, covering the top and bottom, and can draw in opponents.
