The Splatoon universe is a franchise first represented in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and later represented in Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros.. The Splatoon series had its first title on the Wii U, with a sequel released on the Nintendo Switch. The series was represented in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U in the form of Inkling costumes for the Mii Gunner; the Inkling characters were then confirmed to be newcomers in Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros., being the first official iteration of the characters in the Super Smash Bros. series.
