Well this sucks! Mesuxelf Blazeicon (talk) 19:17, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

What? We're in the process of transferring content. The page loads a LOT faster, fewer ads, less ridiculous things forced on us. Trust me, this is a good thing. In no way does it "suck", if anything you might be upset at the lack of Monaco. Well, all Wikias will be losing that so you'll have no choice. --Havoc'48 21:36, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

Just to be clear, this wiki is still available for anyone who wants to edit here. The remaining community may also want to discuss the theme choice for this wiki -- I'm not sure that cream is really you?  :) -- Sannse@fandom (help forum | blog) 19:39, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

Ideally, "remaining community" will be a null set. Toomai Glittershine Toomai 18:06, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
We are considering a custom Monobook/Monaco skin now, but since a lot of the userbase is gonna leave, won't really accomplish much. --Havoc'48 21:36, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

Are you going to make new Administrator positions specially for this page? I'm not saying a lot, just 1 or 2 who can take the time to check here a few times a week. 17:05, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

What do you mean "for this page"? Toomai Glittershine Toomai 18:06, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

As in specifically for this version of Smash Wiki Seevea (talk) 20:03, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

So will it be just like this one? Mesuxelf Blazeicon (talk) 20:08, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Signatures plz

Wikia has stated they must see proof of a decision to rename this place to "SmashWikia", so I'd like all the admins and longtime contributors to sign here that they agree. Toomai Glittershine Toomai 18:06, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

I like Smashwiki betterMesuxelf Blazeicon (talk) 20:06, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Support- I'd like NIWA to get SmashWiki and for this wiki to get the more specific name, SmashWikia.--MegaTron1XDD 21:56, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, sign on the main page. I think Clarinet Hawk just fails to look at timestamps :p Shadowcrest 20:28, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Yep, I did. I saw Toomai in the RC and thought this was the edit, but I fucked up. Sorry. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 03:34, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Support' - Aside: We should intimidate anyone who still edits here into moving to the better smashwiki, ban anyone who doesn't acquiesce, and tell 13375poolR that the wiki would welcome his continued presence. Semicolon (talk) 20:22, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Another Move

Seems to me like a lot of work merging things and recreating pages... Again. Does anyone remember the first merge? That lasted about a year, maybe a bit longer. So, (and I'm really not trying to sound like an ass here) but since the moderators are already very strict, the point of moving because of the Wikia rules? Faster page loading... Does not make any sense. Is it really that bad that we can't wait a full second or two to see a page? While I am not in favor of the move, I'm not trying to force this on anyone but... The whole idea sounds pretty stupid. Kperfekt Talk Is Cheap... But I Am Not. 08:15, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

The move is different from the merge, and we won't be doing any merging or recreating. The content is being moved there through importation, and while I can't say when we'll be finish, we already have a majority done and it will not be anywhere near a year to be completely finished. As for the reasons on moving, they vary (Salad's post on the admin noticeboard is what convinced me). But generally, the majority agree the move to NIWA is more beneficial for the Smash Wiki than remaining on Wikia. Omega TyrantTyranitarMS 09:28, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
I'm still not convinced. What happens to users like myself with high edit counts and rollback powers? Kperfekt Talk Is Cheap... But I Am Not. 09:56, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
As long as all the history is imported, your "edit count" will remain intact. Though, edit count really doesn't matter and is of null importance when compared to the welfare of the Wiki. As for rollback, Salad plans to remove it as being a tool accessible for non admin users. But once again, if you care about the Wiki, I don't see how keeping your edit count intact and a non important tool would keep you from supporting a move that is fully beneficial to the Wiki. Omega TyrantTyranitarMS 10:34, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Basically what I am saying is that a large number of the larger Wikia wikis are discussing moving to avoid the changes, so is it not a possibility that to avoid this Wikia may not change? The reason I am saying this is that if the move goes ahead and then Wikia actually listens to the complains from all across Wikia it has been having and doesn't change, then a lot of effort would have been placed in something pointless. (However if Wikia refuses to listen then of course I am all for the move to NIWA). So shouldn't you/we wait until after the change happens/doesn't happen?-- AM666999talk 23:20, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Wikia has sucked for a long time, this is just the "last straw" of sorts. Shadowcrest 23:24, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

But, can't we just switch back to the old look? I mean, I am still using Monaco. You could just go under preferences. SeanWheeler (talk) 20:55, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure Monaco is being removed entirely, and that still doesn't fix the problem for users who aren't logged in. Shadowcrest 21:48, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

What are the changes?

I don't see any changes yet excepting a different default skin that can be changed--The Corrupted One (talk) 00:29, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

That's mostly it in terms of the obvious stuff, but there's some behind-the-scenes stuff, as well as general simplification and removal of useless memory-clogging features. Toomai Glittershine Toomai 00:51, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

I mean on wikia--The Corrupted One (talk) 01:02, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

The new (ugly and hyper-compressed) Wikia skin is the big change; alongside that comes changes like more obvious ads and more emphasis on garbage like social features. Toomai Glittershine Toomai 02:55, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
When you consider it, Wikia will remove monaco. All they'll have left of use is monobook. NIWA uses that as well. Would you prefer more ads, slower loading, more crashes, or faster loading, no ads if you make an account, and fast loading time? --MegaTron1XDD 01:47, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
