Here's the place to suggest new fun facts to put into the Did you know. I suggest we rotate fun facts weekly, at the same time as the Article of the Week.

Unlike the Article of the Week, "Did you know" facts do not need to pass a vote to be included. However, they should follow these guidelines:

Most fun facts should be of widespread interest - to novices and experts alike. This doesn't mean that esoteric facts about the game's physics are not allowed (like "Luigi's wavedash is so long that Luigi can cross all of Final Destination in just two wavedashes"), but the majority of fun facts should be accessible to everyone.
If possible, fun facts should span all three games in the series.
Fun facts should be verifiable. A fun fact whose truth lies on shaky ground might not be chosen. Some claims (like "Some players can KO over 1000 Fighting Wire Frames with Pikachu in Cruel Melee, using a strategy popularized by a Japanese player's video") can be backed up on common knowledge, but other claims require a source, or that another player reproduce your results.

Put new fun facts under "unverified" or "verified, unused" (if it is common knowledge or you have a source). They will be put into the "did you know" template at the end of the week.

...that if Mario Cape's a thrown Pokéball or Hothead, it becomes his item
...that Wolf Up-Smash, and Sonic Up-aerial are the same attack?
...that Kirby run attack is different in all three games of the saga?
...that the Pokemon Trainer himself has 3 separate taunting animations.
...that if Counter is used against the Master Hand, his attack will not be interrupted, but the user will not take damage?
...that when Kirby copies Falco's blaster in Brawl, the copied blaster's shots dont have the electrifying side-effect that Falco's blaster has?
...that one of Lucas's alternative costumes is a reference to his brother, Claus, in the Japan-only GBA game Mother 3?
...that one of Ganondorf's alternative costumes has darker and brown-ish colors that are a reference to his old Ocarina of Time and Melee look?
...that some of Samus's alternative costumes are references to the corrupted "Fusion Suit" in Metroid Fusion, the "Gravity Suit" in Metroid: Zero Mission and the "Dark Suit" in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes?
...that one of Fox's alaternative costumes is a reference to his Star Fox Adventures clothes colors?
...that one of the Pokémon Trainer's alternative costumes refers to the old Gameboy limited LCD colors, which can be seen in his Pokémon Red and Blue Gameboy games?
...that Link's alternative costume, Dark Link, has appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, while Toon Link's Dark Toon Link alternative costume never appeared in any Zelda game?
...that Link's Red and Blue alternative costumes are a reference to his Zora and Goron tunics in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, even through they didn't appear in Twilight Princess, where Link's Brawl model is based from?
...that even through Link already had a black alternative color in Super Smash Bros. Melee, the first time he got a Yellow alternative color was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's also possible to say that this alternative color is a reference to the Rupee-powered Magic Armor from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
...that one of Lucario's alternative costumes is a reference to his rare shiny-colored form in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl?
...that Brawl's newcomers Pokémon Trainer and Lucario do not wear hats and acessories in their alternative costumes like Pikachu and Jigglypuff? The same happens with Mewtwo in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
...that, excluding Pikachu and Jigglypuff, Wario is the only other character to have alternative costumes with different models(the classic "plumber" outfit)?
...that, even through there's a Mario Kart-related item, Lightning Bolt, the Banana Peel and the Timer items are not based on the Mario Kart/Donkey Kong series, and Super Mario Bros. 2/Wario Ware series, even through they did appeared in these games? That is because their symbol, in the Item Selection Screen, is the default "Smash Bros." symbol, that is also present on Smash Bros. native items like Bumper, Beam Sword, Gooey Bomb and Cracker Launcher.
...that Meteos, a DS game designed by the Super Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai, also had a smoke-producing item similar to the Smoke Ball?
...that the Subspace Army enemy, Mite, is a clear reference to the residents of the Geolyte planet, from the game Meteos, designed by the same director of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Masahiro Sakurai?
...that Mr. Game & Watch, unlike any other playable character, is not formally introduced (with captions and a zoom effect) in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary?
...that one of Marth's alternative costumes has a lighter shade of blue, refering to his NES Fire Emblem colors?
...that Wario has a classic "plumber" alternative color that refers to the old Gameboy limited LCD colors, which can be seen in his gameboy Wario Land games?
...that Meta Knight has alternative color schemes that refers to his Kirby Super Star SNES palette and the Kirby and the Amazing Mirror boss, Dark Meta Knight?
...that Pikachu's headband from his green alternative costume refers to the Pokémon Emerald male protagonist, Brendan's, headband?
...that, even through the Fire Flower item was already present since the first game in the series, Mario and Luigi only got Fire Flower-based alternative costumes in Super Smash Bros. Brawl?
...that, just like the Daisy alternative costume, Peach's blue alternative costume is actually a reference to the Super Mario Galaxy character, Rosalina? The dress is not as cyan as hers, but the crown is colored identically to Rosalina's: It has a shade of grey with pink and cyan jewels on it.

It's also possible to say that the Red alternative color is a reference to the arcade Donkey Kong character Pauline, but this one is not as close as Daisy and Rosalina's.

...that Tails, Knuckles and Silver can be seen running through the Shuttle Loop formation on the background of Green Hill Zone, even through they didn't even exist when the game in which the stage was based, Sonic the Hedgehog, was released for Mega Drive/Sega Genesis? Super Sonic, Sonic's Final Smash, also didn't exist before Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was released.
...that in the original Metal Gear Solid game for Sony PlayStation (and it's equivalent remake for Nintendo Gamecube, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes), the Shadow Moses Island towers can't be destroyed, unlike in the Super Smash Bros. Brawl's stage of the same name? The mechanical Metal Gears also cannot be found inside this building in neither games.
...that the Big TV Screen on the background of the Brawl version of Melee's Pokémon Stadium will show the name "Samus" even after transforming into Zero Suit Samus? That doesn't happen with Sheik/Zelda or with the Pokémon Trainer's Pokémons Charizard, Squirtle and Ivysaur. Also, the Pokémon Stadium 2's background screen properly switches Samus's name to "Zero Suit Samus" if the player changes into her armorless form.
...that by entering a match with only one player (through Action Replay codes or any kind of glitch/trick) and getting Resetti out of an Assist Trophy, he's forced to say his own name to prevent the game of freezing in the phrase "[Player 1].... [Player 2].... You'd be runnin' home to Mama!"?

That Dark Lucas & Silver's Hair Are Exactly The Same? That Wario's Red & White Biker outfit is Booster's outfit from Super Mario RPG?

...that, besides the "Starly" Assist Trophy, the "Lakitu & Spinies" Assist Trophy can also be damaged?
...that one of Wario's "WarioWare" costume colors is a reference to the Super Mario RPG antihero, Booster?
...that if an opponent was wearing a Franklin Badge, Fox's and Falco's Up, Down, and Back Throws will do practically no damage because of their lasers, but strangely, Charizard's Down Throw, which is breathing fire, works perfectly?

Wikia has this extension. It is used by writing like this:

false facts?

This list claims that gw is the only character whose every attack has a disjointed hitbox. There is no definition of disjointed hitbox that includes gw's moves and not every other attack in the game. Perhaps I should argue this on the Hitbox page? Disjointed hitbox is really a term leftover from a time when people didn't really know what they were talking about, and has no legitimate use. Every attack's hitbox is separate from the character's hitbox. Sometimes they overlap, sometimes they don't, always to varying degrees. Nearly every single attack in the game has its hitbox extend past where the character can be damaged. Under any definition I've seen used, nearly every attack counts as having a disjointed hitbox. Link Tether Recovery

Would this be counted as an interesting fact?

You can use Link's tether recovery by pressing A in the air immediately after air dodging?

Contradiction?

Just checking, but on the current "Did you know?" it says the strongest non-glitch attack is 372, 3 PK Flash, Mr. G&W, Roy, but on the other, it says that if you counter it again you get 382. Which is it? MidnightCeltic 16:23, February 13, 2008 (EST)
