Small Battlefield is a stage in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It was added on August 4th, 2020 for free as a part of v8.1.0.

Stage overview

As the name implies, it is a slightly smaller version of Ultimate's Battlefield. Visually, it shares many of the same elements as the original, such as the waterfalls and floating ruins in the background. However, the major difference between the two is the missing top platform, similarly to Pokémon Stadium, with the minor changes being the top blast zone being lowered slightly and the remaining two platforms being moved slightly more inward.

According to Masahiro Sakurai on his official Twitter account, the stage was designed mainly for competitive 1-vs-1 battles, as he felt that the regular Battlefield was too wide and Final Destination was too empty for these sort of matches. As such, Small Battlefield was made to be the middle ground of the two.

Much like Big Battlefield, this layout cannot be chosen for the rest of the game's stages. To compensate for this, the development team has given it the option to play all the songs currently available in Ultimate (this ability was also given to Battlefield, Big Battlefield, and Final Destination as a part of v8.1.0).

Battlefield and Omega forms

As it is a variant of Battlefield and Big Battlefield, it shares its different forms with them.
