Slippy Toad (スリッピー・トード Surippī Tōdo) is a childhood friend of Fox, and has been flying with him for several years. Young, kind, and intelligent, Slippy serves as the inventor of the team, and would never back down from his fellow wingmates. He is hinted at being less athletic than the rest of the team, an example being in the ending of Star Fox 64, when the team runs a long distance, Slippy slowly falls behind and, in the introduction of the same game, he is seen falling behind his wingmates. Also, in Assault, in the scene where everybody jumps into their Arwings for launching, Slippy ends up falling head first into his ship.

Slippy is the son of Beltino Toad, the Research Director for the Cornerian Defense Forces. Slippy and Beltino invented and constructed many inventions for the team, including the Blue Marine. In the gap between Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures, Slippy and his father briefly designed aircraft for Cornerian defense forces.

After the Aparoid race was destroyed in Star Fox: Assault, Slippy temporarily withdrew from the Star Fox team to spend more time with his newfound love. However, when Fox needs backup, Slippy is happy to come to his assistance again. He pilots the Bullfrog (ブルフロッグ), which has Plasma Lasers and high shielding, and is the only ship in the game able to carry up to three Nova Bombs, but has no lock and has only two boost bars.

Melee

Slippy's Melee trophy

Slippy made a brief cameo in Super Smash Bros. Melee, assisting Fox in an Event Match. He also created a cloaking device for Fox and Falco Lombardi for a mission in the game(though the existence of the cloaking device in the game comes from Perfect Dark). Also, a secret taunt that only Fox and Falco can do on Star Fox stages features dialog between members of Star Fox, including Slippy, Peppy Hare, and Fox/Falco (depending on which fighter initiated the taunt).

Trophy Description

Slippy Toad is the mechanical genius behind most of the Star Fox team's new weapons and technology, and just lately he's been spending the bulk of his time in Research and Development. He's also a competent pilot, but his enthusiasm tends to outweigh his technical flight skills. He and Fox have been friends ever since their school days.

Brawl

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Slippy and the others can still be contacted via secret taunt on Corneria. However, when the secret taunt is performed by Fox, Falco, or Wolf O'Donnell on Lylat Cruise, both teams Star Fox and Star Wolf will answer the call, sometimes during the same taunt. In addition, when Solid Snake uses his codec on Shadow Moses Island during a battle with Falco, he will contact Slippy, who has hacked into Roy Campbell's codec frequency.

Slippy often holds the team back with his clumsiness but makes up for it with his likeable personality and morale-boosting presence.
