This is about Kazuya's mechanic. For the Smash Bros. version, see Rage. For Kazuya's Down Special Move, see Heaven's Door

Rage is a unique Fighter Ability exclusive to Kazuya, which gives him access to the special move Rage Drive.

Overview[]

Rage will activate when Kazuya is at a 100% damage or higher (or 25% or below in Stamina Mode), in a similar manner to Terry's Desperation mechanic; it will be signified when Kazuya starts to emit a red aura and his Character Portrait in the U.I. will glow red, as well as the HD Rumble of the Joy-Cons mimicking a heartbeat. During this state, Kazuya's damage will be boosted by 1.1x. While it doesn't have a time-limit, it will dissapate after crossing a specific threshold, either by the damage he has accumulated or the number of times his attempt at performing a Rage Drive has whiffed. Kazuya can only be in his Rage state once per Stock, and once it has been used or has disappaeared, it will only return after Kazuya has been KO'd. However, Rage will not dissapate if he has been healed below the specific parameters.

The formula for the depletion of Rage is as follows: (Number of missed grabs or Heaven's Door × 110) + (Damage taken during Rage × 17.6) ≥ 650.

Origin[]

Rage Drive original

Kazuya's Rage Drive in Tekken 7.

Rage is a mechanic introduced in Tekken 6. The effect activates when a character reaches 10% of their health (or 5% in Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, or 20% in Tekken 7), and much like in Smash, it is signified when the character has a red aura and the health bar flashes red. Due to it increasing a character's damage output, it acts as a "comeback mechanic", as it can give the losing player a chance to turn the tables on their opponent in their favor.

Rage Drives are introduced in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution as one of the abilities characters can only use while in Rage. Unlike its companion mechanic Rage Arts, these are essentially powerful versions of regular moves, often with higher damage and/or more armor and are used for combo opportunities and alieving pressure against an opponent. Like with Rage Arts, only one Rage Drive can be used per round, as using it instantly removes Rage.
