Ptooie is Piranha Plant’s Neutral Special Move. Piranha Plant spits out a spiky, metal ball and keeps blowing it into the air. By tilting the control stick left or right, Piranha Plant blows the ball in that direction, and a connecting strike deals moderate damage with decent knock back. The ball also does moderate shield damage, which, if combined with a Long-Stem Strike, will easily pop a shield.

The closer the ball is to Piranha Plant's mouth, the farther it flies when the control stick is tilted. This move can be cancelled if the player stops pressing B.

The ball itself has 2 different hitboxes: the first strong hit if it makes contact with an opponent before it touches the ground, and the second hit when it bounces on the ground. The second hit lingers for a while, but doesn't knock back as far. This makes punishing this move more difficult.

Origin[]

The Ptooie special attack made it's debut in Super Mario Bros. 3, where some of the Plants would attack Mario using spiked metal balls. This would make another appearance in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, where floating Piranha Plants would blow spiked green balls into the air as an obstacle for Mario and friends.
