Power Wave is Terry's Standard Special Move.

Overview

When performing this move, Terry punches the ground, sending a shock wave that acts as a projectile, similar to Cloud's grounded Blade Beam. However, when used in the air, the shock wave will become a short-ranged burst rather than its projectile counterpart. This can be good for gimping opponents with poor horizontal recovery. There is a weak and strong version of this attack, which can be performed depending on how long the B button is held.

Origin

Power Wave has been one of Terry's special attacks since the first Fatal Fury game and is one of his most iconic moves. According to official materials, this move was passed on from his adoptive father, Jeff Bogard. An alternate version of the attack debuted in later games called Round Wave, a slightly stronger version with more close horizontal shockwave like range that focused on deterring outflanking opponents in Fatal Fury's lane system or provided a more powerful combo finisher in The King of Fighters and crossovers.

In certain King of Fighters games such as King of Fighters 96, the Power Wave only fires out a short bit. While this is retained for Terry's standard moveset in KOF 98, his EX form retains the original fullscreen power wave.

From Garou Mark of the Wolves onward, Terry would instead shout "Rock you!" while performing the move. He usually does so while in his MOTW outfit, and in recent games now shouts either the move's name or "Rock you!" at random.
