Power Star is Rosalina & Luma's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Overview[]

Rosalina summons a Power Star directly above her, which will gradually grow in size while firing smaller stars in all directions, rebounding if they hit a surface. After 9 seconds, the Star will explode, knocking back all opponents within the vicinity. After initiating, Rosalina is able to move around, which can enable her to force opponents into the Power Star. Any opponent caught within the Star will remain trapped within it for the duration of the Final Smash.

Power Star is one of the most powerful Final Smashes, capping its damage at 250% and dealing high knockback to opponents. Airborne opponents directly above Rosalina will inevitably be trapped and subsequently KO'd, while grounded opponents can be easily thrown into the Star and trapped. Power Star will continue regardless if Rosalina is KO'd.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the power star summoned is a Grand Star.

Trophy Description[]

PowerStarTrophyWiiU

Power Star Trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

In Rosalina's Final Smash, she summons a Power Star above her head. It launches fighters who touch it and also fires a barrage of smaller stars in all directions, all the while growing bigger and bigger. Even if Rosalina falls off the stage right after activating it, the Power Star will keep attacking her foes until it finally explodes.

Origin[]

Power Stars first appeared in Super Mario 64, and have appeared in later 3D Mario platformers, particularly Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They function as collectibles, which are required in certain numbers to allow Mario to access each level. The fact that Rosalina summons one may be a reference to how they power her home, the Comet Observatory.
