Power Pellet is Pac-Man's Side Special Move. Pac-Man creates a chain of Pac-Dots, transforms in to his 8-bit form and starts eating them.

Overview[]

If there are opponents in his path, they will take damage. The path can be influenced by controlling the direction with the Control Stick, allowing Pac-Man to hit opponents multiple times. At the end of the chain, there is a Power Pellet. If Pac-Man eats it, he will become bigger, stronger and faster, dealing higher damage. The move is also good as a horizontal and even somewhat vertical recovery, as Pac-Man does not fall into helplessness after using it. However, he cannot perform any aerial attacks afterwards. Also, if he hit a wall or floor when eating the Pac-Dots, he will be momentarily stunned. If Pac-Man is hit when he is creating the chain, the Power Pellet will fall and appear in the ground. If someone grabs it, the Pellet will recover some health.

Custom Variations[]

Distant Power Pellet[]

This Custom Move gives Pac-Man a greater distance when using the Power Pellet. However, he doesn't do as much damage.

Strengths:

  • Horizontal recovery
  • Vertical recovery
  • More freedom of movement
  • Travels farther than the default

Weaknesses:

  • Has starting lag

This move is excellent for recovery both horizontal and vertical since not only does it cover a good distance but it also can be aimed directly up or horizontally or--wherever! This move gives a player lots of freedom with where Pac-Man is able to move since the greater number of dots allows them to draw some more unorthodox shapes with them. The only drawback to this move is that it has lots of starting lag, especially if players are trying to get the full extent of the Pac-Dots out on the stage.

Enticing Power Pellet[]

The second Custom Move will make the Pellet pull other opponents when Pac-Man is creating the chain, however, the move doesn't go as far and takes longer to create.

Strengths:

  • Deals more damage than the default
  • Pulls opponents in at the start of the move
  • Some recovery options

Weaknesses:

  • Slow to start

The Enticing Power Pellet is a slow move that takes a few seconds to get started. In this time, the small number of Power Pellets that come out will pull nearby opponents towards them so that when the attack is launched they will be hit by Pac-Man. When they are hit, the move deals some good damage, around 18% if both hits connect. The move is also a recovery option when near the edge.

Trophy Description[]

Power Pellet[]

These round, flashing items are found in all four corners of the stage. When PAC-MAN eats one, the normally fearsome ghosts turn blue and run off--that's PAC-MAN's cue to take them out. In Smash Bros., PAC-MAN eats a Power Pellet with his side special, sending him rushing in the direction he was facing.

  • Arcade - PAC-MAN (1980)
  • Arcade - PAC-LAND (1984)

Origin[]

When Pac-Man eats one of these pellets, for a few seconds he can kill the ghosts.
