The palette swaps return for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, with a total of 8 palette swaps for each character, but this time, unlike the previous games, some of the palette swaps are actual costumes. (Like Wario in Brawl)
Bowser
- Green: (Default) Based on his appearance from the Mario series.
- Brown: An inverse version of the Green Default, but also resembles Boom Boom from Super Mario Bros. 3.
- Yellow: Yellow body and purple shell. The purple shell may resemble when Bowser is poisoned in Super Mario RPG: Legend of Seve Stars
- Dark Green: Possibly based on his original design from Super Mario Bros.
- White: This costume turns Bowser's hair red and his shell and spiked collars to white, somewhat resembling Dry Bowser from New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart Wii. It also resembles Morton Koopa Jr.'s white and gold shell and darker skin.
- Pink: Same as his default one, but with pink hair. The color scheme resembles to Bowletta (from Mario & Luigi SS)
- Red: Resembles a Red Koopa Troopa or a Spiny.
- Blue: Resembles Bowser's appearance on the international covers of Super Mario Bros. This palette swap also resembles the spiny shell from Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7.
