The Nintendo DS "universe" refers to the Smash Bros. series' collection of characters, stages, and properties that hail from the default software on Nintendo's Nintendo DS handheld video game system. Currently, this is one of only two frachises (the other being Animal Crossing) recognized as such in Super Smash Bros. Brawl to not have a playable character appear in the game.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Nintendo DS is recognized as its own universe by Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but as of now there are no playable characters that have been revealed to hail from it.
Stage
Currently, the only representation the universe has gotten is a stage known as PictoChat, which is based off of the PictoChat feature built into all Nintendo DSes. The update came surprisingly with its own symbol, perhaps implying further representation.
