The music of Super Smash Bros. Brawl is more major and important to the game experience than previous games in the series. Among videogames in general, SSBB's musical setup is noteworthy for being a gigantic compilation of Nintendo music exponentially larger than even the musical selection of Super Smash Bros. Melee. The final song roster is said to have exceed over 300 songs.

The full list of credited musicians for the game is posted here at Smash Bros. DOJO!!, and it numbers at 36 individuals as one of the biggest musical gatherings in gaming history, according to Masahiro Sakurai. Curiously, Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu is not among the list, even though he is credited for composing the official theme song for the game detailed below. Sakurai has stated that his group of arrangement supervisors were asked to listen to "an elite selection of Nintendo music" and arrange several of their favorite songs, which "means there will be quite a number of songs."

As revealed on the site here, the game will include a feature called My Music: Each stage in the game will have multiple songs available to be played during battle (over four per stage according to screenshots), and the game will randomly select one of them for when the match starts. The player may adjust the likeliness that each song may play on each stage to his or her preference. Also, occasionally in battle a collectible called a CD will appear in battle and can be picked up like a sticker would; this unlocks new music that can be used with any of the stages. Since each stage has many available songs through this system rather than just one or two songs for each stage in Melee, this indicates an immensely larger collection of music in Brawl.

As opposed to the previous installments, where this feature had to be unlocked through various methods, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will feature a Sound Test option from the very start of the game.

From time to time, DOJO!! will post a piece of music from the game as one of its updates to the site, normaly these are paired with additional updates. However, leaked songs have been posted on the Internet sites such as YouTube and the Smash World Forums.

Main Theme

The Main Theme song was revealed along with the game itself at the game's first trailer in E3 2006. In this initial appearance it is a thundering orchestra with vocals sung in Latin. It was composed by famed Final Fantasy series composer Nobuo Uematsu, and its lyrics were supervised by Sakurai himself. In September 7, 2007, it was reposted on DOJO!! as part of a string of music-related updates.

A synthesized remix of the track without vocals was heard in the game's second trailer at Nintendo World 2006. In the 15-second mini-trailer posted on Dojo on July 12th, 2007, a short remix of the main theme is also played.
