Microsoft Corporation is an American technology company, best known for their Microsoft Windows line of operating systems. The company is also known for their hardware products with their own series of game consoles, the Xbox. Microsoft's gaming division, Xbox Game Studios, is known for publishing games such as Halo, Minecraft, Gears Of War, and Forza, as well as smaller indie titles such as the Ori series, Cuphead, and Super Lucky's Tale.

On September 24th, 2002, Microsoft purchased Rare Ltd. from Nintendo, along with their original intellectual properties such as Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark and Conker.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The long requested iconic duo, Banjo & Kazooie from the Banjo Kazooie series joins the battle as part of Challenger Pack 3 of Fighters Pass Volume 1 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. They were announced at Nintendo's E3 Direct on June 11, 2019 and are collectively classified as Fighter #73. Along with their Challenger Pack comes with Spiral Mountain, and ten tracks taken from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.


  • Microsoft is the only non-Japanese company to have a playable character in Super Smash Bros.
  • Microsoft is the only company with content in Super Smash Bros. that currently competes with Nintendo, as the Xbox consoles are competitors to Nintendo's line of systems.
    • However, they are the third company to compete with Nintendo at any points in its history, following Sega and SNK, though the latter two stopped making consoles prior to providing content for Super Smash Bros.
  • Microsoft is the only company to not be a dedicated video game company.
