Announced at E3 2006, Meta Knight (メタナイト, Meta Naito) is a character appearing in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl. What is known about him is: he attacks with his sword, the Galaxia, he has a multi-hit and spiral-like aerial attack, can jump multiple times in mid-air, and has an attack like Kirby's Forward smash. He also is capable of gliding, like Pit and Charizard, and has several multiple-hit attacks.
Within the first Brawl trailer Meta Knight is seen shielding or reflecting one of Pit's arrows with his cape, which when on him renders him camouflaged with his surroundings with a sort of active camouflage. It appears to be his Dimensional Cape, but is still unknown whether or not it was exaggerated for the trailer, like the Wario Waft.
Meta Knight's black Alternate Costume is based off of Dark Meta Knight from Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. For his On-Screen Appearance, he uses his cape to teleport.
Role in the Subspace Emissary
Although Meta Knight has been confirmed in the game, it still has not been confirmed that there is any connection between him and the Meta Knight looking ship, the Battleship Halberd. The Battleship Halberd is known to have a large role, presumably with some connection to Meta Knight. Screenshots have shown Meta Knight fending off a group of knight-like enemies, so some believe that Meta Knight may not be in control of the Halberd at all and that his ship was stolen. In a video of the Subspace Emissary it shows Meta Knight teaming up with the Ice Climbers.

Ground attacks
Revealed by the Standard Combos update, when you press and hold A, Meta Knight will do a rapid sequence of slices.
Grabs and Throws
- Back Throw: Similar to Kirby's Back Throw in Melee
- Forward Throw: Backflip kick
- Up Throw: Similar to Kirby's Up Throw in Melee
- Down Throw: Similar to Kirby's down throw in Melee
Taunts
- Extends his wings for a moment and then pulls them back in
- Spins into his cape and shrinks horizontally
- Brandishes his sword in front of him, examining it
Event Matches
Pink Ball Repulsion- The player playes as Meta Knight and has to defeat Kirby on the Battleship Halberd before the flying platform lands.[1]
