Master Spirits are a type of spirit found and usable only in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Adventure Mode: World of Light. These spirits allow you to use Shops, the Dojo and Gym facilities and the Explore function.

Master Spirits are a special type of spirit that break all the previous spirit rules: they have no rank, no capacity to level up and cannot be used in teams or dismissed. Their function is to do their usual job after being freed: being a shopkeeper, training spirits for money (which appear to be Spirit Points in Adventure Mode: World of Light), leading expeditions to unexplored places for rewards or levelling up your spirits through exercise.

All Master Spirits are found in the same way as other spirits in Adventure Mode: World of Light: you must fight an opponent and defeat them to free the spirit. These spirits have the same appearance as regular spirits in the World of Light map and are always found right in front of the building where they do their service. You cannot access a building that will become a Dojo, Shop, Gym or Explore location before the Master Spirit has been freed, as they will always block the way to that building and must be defeated to proceed.

To tell a Master Spirit from a regular spirit, simply look at the spirit itself. Layering above the spirit's image will be a black rounded shape with the white letters "Master Spirit" written on it.
