Mario Finale is Mario's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Overview

Mario draws back both his hands him while yelling "Oh yeah! HIYAH!" before pushing his hands outwards, launching two blasts of fire that travel in a vortex, spiraling away from Mario and expanding vertically. Opponents who come into contact with the fireballs will be knocked slightly to the side, essentially traveling with the Final Smash. Mario Finale goes the length of Final Destination.

Opponents who come into contact with the smaller fireball will be inflicted 2% damage, and 3% damage when touching the larger one. However, the damage can easily stack up due to Mario Finale hitting multiple times. Because Mario Finale only takes true effect the further it is from Mario, it can easily be avoided by characters with high jumps. To compensate however, Mario Finale can easily trap multiple opponents and covers a very wide range, potentially dragging them toward the side blast lines, particularly if the opponent is very close to the blast lines.

Trophy Description

Trofeo Mario Final SSBB

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Mario with a Smash Ball, unleashing his ultimate attack. The twin dragons of flame he releases wallop all characters in range. The flames spread up and down, so it's best to release them from the edge of the screen at an appropriate height. His flaming eyes are proof of his excitement for this explosive attack.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Break the Smash Ball and unleash Mario's Final Smash. Mario will fire a devastating blast of fire in the direction he is facing. The attack covers a wide range and travels far, so it's best to fire this from one side of the stage to the other. The damage is impressive, and this move can actually carry foes right off the screen!

Origin

Mario Finale may either be loosely based on Mario's "Ultra Flame" attack from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, where Mario fires off a barrage of giant fireballs that damage all foes on the screen; or may merely be inspired by Mario's long history of pyrokinesis (such as throwing fireballs, as well as his Side Smash being fire-based). Many fire-based attacks Mario had in the games he appeared are derived from his ability to shoot fireballs.

Trivia

  • Mario Finale was the very first Final Smash introduced in the series, being showcased at E3 2006.
