Magnus is a character from Kid Icarus.
In Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U[]
Magnus appears in 3DS/Wii U in two major roles.
As an assist trophy[]
Magnus appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U as an Assist Trophy. He attacks by slamming his large sword into the ground, which is very powerful much like Ike's Side Smash. He also attacks in the air. Players can stop his attacks temporarily by hitting him, which will cause him to flinch.
When summoned, he will say "Sorry I'm late, I had other things to do.", before attacking enemies. When he is about to leave, he may either say "Hmph." or "I'm done, good luck on your side!" before leaving.
As a Smash Tour element[]
Magnus appears as an item in Smash Tour. When selected in a battle, any KO'd opponent will be launched away when the battle ends.
Trophy Description[]
Magnus is perhaps the mightiest human warrior, and he has weathered countless battles. He seems to prefer working alone, and he can respect the strength of foes like Dark Lord Gaol. However, he seems reluctant--not afraid--to fight Gaol. Is there a connection between these two?

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
Magnus does not reprise his role as an Assist Trophy in Ultimate, instead appearing as a collectable spirit which can be obtained from the Light portion of World of Light's Final Battle. His spirit can also either be obtained through either the Spirit Board or purchased from the Shop for 1000G. It is a Primary Attack Spirit under the Advanced class.
Magnus' spirit battle uses Ike in his Radiant Dawn costume, a reference to both parties being mercenaries experienced with a large blade.
The spirit battle takes place at Coliseum's ฮฉ form, which not only references the Town Magnus lives in, but also Chapter 18 of Kid Icarus: Uprising where he is prominently featured as a playable character.
The Ike puppet fighter will also gain super armor with the consequence of slow speed, and his attack power will increase too, all references to Magnus' slow mobility, but raw power used in his swordplay, being one of the few humans able to keep up with Pit and defeat multiple enemies.
Once applied, the Magnus spirit will increase the fighter's sword attack, another nod to the above reference.
In World of Light, Magnus's spirit is located on Galeem's side on The Final Battle map while Thanatos is featured across from him on Dharkon's side, referencing both characters' affiliation with Pit, with Magnus being an ally.
