This is the list of known changes in version 1.0.6 of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

General[]

  • Notice Pressing A + B together produces smash attacks. This can be disabled in the Controls menu.
  • Notice Tilting the analog stick + smash stick together produces smash attacks instead of tilt attacks.
  • Notice It is no longer possible to perform tilt attacks or smash attacks while holding a throwing item.
  • SSB4-U IconNotice The player's selected name now persists between modes.
  • SSB4-U IconBugfix Fixed glitch where feeding an amiibo would affect CPU characters in Master Orders.
  • SSB4-3 IconNotice In Team Battles, CPUs use Share Stock a couple seconds after they lose their stocks, rather than instantly.

Stock SSB4 dark pit Dark Pit
  • Bugfix Fixed a bug where Dark Pit will clip through sloped terrain while using a ledge attack as someone else grabs the ledge.
Stock SSB4 diddy kong Diddy Kong
  • Nerf Forward smash has increased ending lag.
  • Nerf Forward aerial deals less damage (12%/10% → 10%/8%) and weaker knockback.
  • Nerf Up aerial deals less damage (8% → 6%) and significantly weaker knockback.
  • Nerf Up throw deals less damage (10% to 8%).
    • Buff It also has less knockback, which allows Diddy Kong to combo into up aerial more efficiently.
  • Nerf Down throw deals less damage (7% → 6%) and hitstun.
  • Buff Monkey Flip (kick) now has an extra hitbox that deals 10% damage near the end of the kick.
    • Nerf Monkey Flip (grab) deals less damage: 12% → 10%.
    • Nerf Monkey Flip (jump) deals less damage: 10% → 8%.
  • Nerf Banana Peel deals less damage: (7% → 5%).

  • Buff Giant Punch's full charge time has been reduced: 172 frames → 144 frames.
  • Notice First hit of jab no longer has the Sakurai angle and has modified knockback.

  • Buff Forward aerial (clean) deals more damage: 15.68% → 16.8%.
  • Notice The angle trajectory of up smash is more horizontal.

  • Notice Up smash no longer whiffs in the 2nd hit.

  • Notice Rapid jab combo contains less visual whiffs.

  • Buff Jab deals more damage: (8%/6%/4% → 10%/8%/6%).
  • Notice Up, forward, and down Throw contain less hitlag.

  • Nerf IASA on first strike has been increased from 19 to 27 frames.
    • Nerf This change also removes his jab infinite.
  • Buff Dash attack's hitbox comes out 1 frame earlier: 21 → 20.
    • Buff Dash attack deals more damage non-tipped: 13% → 12%.
    • Buff Dash attack's knockback scaling has been increased: 78 → 72.
  • Nerf Down tilt's knockback growth has been drastically reduced and no longer meteor smashes characters hanging on the ledge.
  • Buff Up smash's startup has been slightly increased: 25 frames → 24.
  • Buff Down aerial's reach has been increased by 50%.
  • Buff Spin Attack comes out 3 frames sooner, ends 4 frames sooner, KOs 17% earlier, and deals more damage uncharged: 12% → 14%.
    • Notice Both Spin Attack and Shocking Spin Attack's hitboxes has been slightly tweaked.
    • Nerf Back half of Spin Attack KOs 19% later.
    • Buff Hylian Shield can now block Fox and Falco's Blaster shots.

  • Notice Star Uppercut will always make Little Mac take a step forward. No more wind whiffs.
  • Buff Jolt Haymaker has increased knockback.

  • Buff Down tilt, forward smash, down smash (second hit), forward air, and an uncharged Shield Breaker deals 0.5% more damage.

  • Buff Forward tilt's IASA frames has been reduced: frame 39 → 35.
  • Buff Dancing Blade's first hit IASA frames has been reduced: frame 45 → 42.
  • Buff Dancing Blade combos more consistently.
Stock SSB4 luigi Luigi
  • Nerf Fireball now has a lingering hitbox that deals 5% damage.
Stock SSB4 mario Mario
  • Buff Part of forward smash made irreversible.
  • Notice Part of Mario's forward smash's hitbox moved slightly higher.
Stock SSB4 marth Marth
  • Buff Neutral attack's first hit IASA frames has been reduced: frame 29 → 26.
  • Buff Forward tilt's IASA frames has been reduced: frame 39 → 35.
  • Buff Dancing Blade's first hit IASA frames has been reduced: frame 45 → 42.
  • Buff Dancing Blade combos more consistently.
Stock SSB4 mega man Mega Man
  • Buff Ice Slasher (Side-2) fires faster and fires at the peak of his short hop instead of slightly later.
  • Buff Leaf Shield starts moving sooner when thrown (though the animation length is unchanged).
  • Bugfix Rush Coil's landing lag glitch has been fixed.
Stock SSB4 meta knight Meta Knight
  • Notice Screen shakes slightly more violently when using down throw.
  • Bugfix Dimensional Cape's landing lag glitch has been fixed.

  • Added as a playable character.

  • Nerf Forward aerial deals less damage: 4%, 6% → 3%, 5%.
  • Nerf Back aerial deals less damage: 12% → 10%.
  • Bugfix The first hit of Piston Punch can no longer OHKO light characters.

  • Buff Down tilt deals more damage: 6% → 8%.
  • Buff Neutral aerial deals more damage: 5% → 8%.

  • Nerf Ledge grab animation's length has been standardized, becoming slower as a result.
Stock SSB4 pit Pit
  • Bugfix Fixed a bug where Pit will clip through sloped terrain while using a ledge attack as someone else grabs the ledge.

  • Nerf Up throw's knockback has been reduced.
Stock SSB4 robin Robin
  • Buff The wind repeating hits of rapid jab deals less knockback and thus link to each other better.
  • Notice Tomes do not disappear when landing on platforms.
  • Bugfix Fixed a glitch where female Robin's Levin Sword would not repeatedly flash to indicate that it was about to break.
Stock SSB4 rosalina and luma Rosalina & Luma
  • Nerf Luma's health has been decreased: 52 HP → 47 HP.
Stock SSB4 samus Samus
  • Buff Forward tilt's (sweetspot) knockback and damage has been increased, now K.O.ing middle weight characters around 180% at the edge. (Damage: 7/8% → 8/9%).
  • Notice Forward tilt now has more hitboxes.
  • Buff The speed of a homing Missile has been increased.
Stock SSB4 sheik Sheik
  • Nerf Back aerial deals less damage: 11/10% → 8/7%.
  • Nerf Down tilt deals less damage: 7.5% → 5%.
Stock SSB4 sonic Sonic
  • Nerf Back throw deals less knockback.
  • Nerf Spin Dash (fully charged) deals less damage: 10% → 7%.
    • Nerf Spin Dash's rolling and jumping hitboxes deal 3% less damage: 10% → 7% (rolling), 6% → 3% (jumping).
    • Nerf Burning Spin Dash (Side-3) partial intangibility removed (no longer goes through moves like Sheik's Needles and Fox's/Falco's Blasters).
  • Buff Spring Jump can no longer be Pocketed by Villager.
  • Notice Homing Attack no longer targets objects like Duck Hunt's Explosive Can or Luma.

  • Buff Hero's Shield can now block Blaster shots.
  • Nerf First hit of down smash's knockback has been reduced.

  • Buff Forward smash's looping hit angles have been lowered to make the move connect better.
  • Buff Phantom Slash has slightly less ending lag.

  • Nerf Destroyed Phantom's regeneration time has been increased: 6 seconds → 9.
