Don't you know it's time to raise our sails?
It's freedom like you never knew
Don't need bags, or a pass
Say the word, I'll be there in a flash
You could say my hat is off to you
Oh, we can zoom
All the way to the moon
From this great wide wacky world
Jump with me, grab coins with me
Oh, yeah!
It's time to jump up in the air (Jump up in the air)
Jump up, don't be scared (Jump up, don't be scared)
Jump up and your cares will soar away
And if the dark clouds start to swirl (Dark clouds start to swirl)
Don't fear, don't shed a tear, 'cause
I'll be your 1-Up girl
So let's all jump up super high (Jump up super high)
High up in the sky (High up in the sky)
There's no power-up like dancing
You know that you're my superstar (You're my superstar)
No one else can take me this far
I'm flipping the switch
Get ready for this
Oh, let's do the odyssey
Odyssey, ya see! (ร7)
Odyssey, odyssey!
Spin the wheel, take a chance
Every journey starts a new romance
A new world's calling out to you
Take a turn, off the path
Find a new addition to the cast
You know that any captain needs a crew
Take it in stride
As you move side-to-side
They're just different points of view
Jump with me, grab coins with me
Oh, yeah!
Come on and jump up in the air (Jump up in the air)
Jump without a care (Jump without a care)
Jump up 'cause you know that I'll be there
And if you find you're short on joy (Find you're short on joy)
Don't fret, just don't forget that
You're still our 1-Up boy
So go on, straighten up your cap (Straighten up your cap)
Let your toes begin to tap (Toes begin to tap)
This rhythm is a power 'shroom
Don't forget you're the superstar (You're the superstar)
No one else can make it this far
Put a comb through that 'stache
Now you've got panache
Oh, let's do the odyssey
Odyssey, ya see! (ร7)
Odyssey, odyssey!
Break Free (Lead the Way)[]
Smash through the blocks that bar your way
No time for fear just let it all fall away (all fall away)
Nobody believes in me and you, just look at the way they stare
So what if we live in a walled garden, as long as I've got you then I don't care
Kick off the wall and take the plunge
Tripping through 2 dimensions
Up on the moon we'll twirl and swoon
Just lead the way (and I'll follow you)
I'll throw my hat in the ring, 'cause you're the one
A miracle in three dimensions
Follow the brick path straight to my heart
And we'll grab the flag together the fireworks are gonna start
Shake off the chains, you're running free
You'll be amazed at all that there is to see (there is to see)
Together we're racing for the goal, and no one can stop us now
Maybe we don't know where we're going, but we're gonna get there somehow
Climb up the vine and land in the clouds
Maybe then we'll swap up for down
'cross the sea we're still you and me
I'll follow you (Just lead the way)
You've got me over the moon, and that's no jest
We're miles above the rest
Look in your eyes and I know we'll be fine
So let's shoot for the stars and make this love really shine
Nobody believes in me and you, just look at the way they stare
So what if we live in a walled garden, as long as I've got you then I don't care
Kick off the wall and take the plunge
Tripping through 2 dimensions
Up on the moon we'll twirl and swoon
Just lead the way (and I'll follow you)
I'll throw my hat in the ring, 'cause you're the one
A miracle in three dimensions
Follow the brick path straight to my heart
And we'll grab the flag together the fireworks are gonna start
Trivia[]
- Super Mario is one of six major universes to gain additional music tracks via downloadable content, the other five being The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy, and Xenoblade Chronicles.
- The song "Ground Theme 2 (Super Mario Bros.)" is the only Super Mario Bros. track in the series to remain exclusive to a certain installment (the one in particular being Super Smash Bros. Brawl).
- Several other Super Mario songs have been used in various trailers but do not show up in any of the Smash Bros. games themselves:
- A small snippet of "Peach's Castle Stolen" from Super Mario Galaxy can be heard in the beginning of Rosalina & Luma's reveal trailer.
- "Bowser Jr.'s Flotilla" from Paper Mario: Sticker Star and "Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla" from Super Mario Galaxy 2 can be heard in the gameplay sections of Bowser Jr.'s reveal trailer.
- "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms" from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is used in the "Mii Fighters Suit Up for Wave Five" trailer for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and in the "Extra Mii Fighter Costumes - Wave Eight" trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
- "Two Worlds Collide" from Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is used in the "Extra Mii Fighter Costumes - Round 5" trailer.
- Although "Jump Up, Super Star!" and "Break Free (Lead the Way)" have Japanese versions, the English version is instead used in all regions. This remains consistent with the international versions of Super Mario Odyssey, which uses the English versions in-game, while the Japanese versions were released as promotional singles in Japan.
- Strangely, the direct rip of the Overworld theme from Super Mario Bros. 3 is not available on its own in Ultimate and is exclusive to the "Style Switch: Ground Theme" track, despite being previously made separate in 3DS/Wii U.
- Much like in Super Mario Bros., the direct rip of the Ground Theme will play its "time is running out" version when either there are 30 seconds left in a Time match, the last fighters are down to their last Stock (exclusive to Ultimate), or during Sudden Death. They share this unique trait with music from Street Fighter and Splatoon (specifically on the stages Suzaku Castle and Moray Towers).
- This can also occur with the direct rip of Super Mario Bros. 2's Ground Theme, as it will play the game's boss battle theme under those same conditions (except for the last Stock one) if that particular theme is chosen. This is strange, as that game did not use a Time Limit like other Mario games.
- Ultimate is the first entry to not feature a new remix of the Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros.
