In this subgame titled "Revenge of the Meta Knight", Kirby (wearing a cap similar to Link's to signify his sword ability) and his partner Knuckle Joe face off against Meta Knight in the Halberd.

Kirby Super Star (Kirby's Fun Pak in Europe, Hoshi no Kirby Super Deluxe in Japan) is the fourth game in the Kirby series, developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the SNES. It was released in Japan on March 21, 1996; in North America on September 20, 1996; and in Europe on January 23, 1997.

The Nintendo DS version, titled Kirby Super Star Ultra was released in September 22, 2008 in North America and was released in Japan on November 6, 2008. The European release date is yet to be confirmed. The DS version contains more games and sub-games to its SNES version.

Super Smash Bros. series

  • The music played in Save Rooms was remixed for Super Smash Bros. Melee's All-Star Mode, which is similar to The Arena. Also, one of the Gourmet Race songs is used for Kirby's levels in the Smash Bros. series, either in original and orchestated versions.
  • Also, the final boss of the Great Cave Offensive, Wham Bam Rock, uses a stone hand to attack Kirby. The hand's patterns may be the inspiration for Master and Crazy Hand.
  • Kirby's yo-yo ability and appearance is similar to Ness from Earthbound. The ability background is also the same pattern as the file select screen from Earthbound.
  • Kirby's Final Smash is derived from the Cook ability, which originated in this game.
  • Several people have compared The Adventure Mode: Subspace Emissary of Super Smash Bros. Brawl to being similar to Kirby Super Star. One of the most obvious similarities is the camera's focus on the first player and the ability for the second player to teleport to the first either at will or if they end up too far off screen.
  • It is believed that the combat mechanics of Super Smash Bros. are based off that of Kirby Super Star.
