This is a glitch in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in which two Isabelles try to grab one item simultaneously with their Fishing Rod, which results in various unintended effects, most notably the infinite Assist Trophy glitch. It has been patched in version 2.0.0.

Infinite Assist Trophy[]

One of the Isabelles will grab the Assist Trophy and will spawn the same assist character infinitely. While it doesn't crash the game due to a lot of Assist Trophies being present, the game's speed will drop a bit, the most if Rathalos is summoned. She will continue to summon until somebody manages to hit the Assist Trophy off from her, which is almost impossible unless you utilise invincibility frames from respawning.

Invisible Daybreak[]

While it'll not affect with the pieces, grabbing the fully assembled Daybreak like this will make it stuck to Isabelle. The effect will be invisible but the hitbox will still be present.

No Healing[]

Food, Maxim Tomato and Heart Container will just disappear without even healing the player.

Unpickable and static[]

These items when grabbed in this manner and then z-dropped or knocked from the player will mostly teleport to the ground and will not exactly work as intended. They cannot be grabbed again after dropping, but will still show the item pickup animation.

Static and cannot be picked[]

Works as normal[]

These items will still work as intended, but if knocked from player, it cannot be picked again.

Item affects to user[]

These items when grabbed in this manner and then z-dropped or thrown will affect or hit the user instead. When other players try to attack the holder, the item will also get the knockback, which will trigger its effects or gets destroyed depending on the item.

Items work strangely[]

These items when grabbed in this manner will not work exactly as it does.

  • Bob-omb (explodes immediately, may explode again after landing lag)
  • Bombchu (can explode by itself when holding, clips halfway into the ground and gets stuck when thrown or dropped)
  • Drill Arm (no handle left after use)
  • Fire Bar (no hitbox present)
  • Golden Hammer (no hitbox present, sticks to the user without animation after getting knocked)
  • Gooey Bomb (blown when knocked off, will not blow off after throwing unless it is attacked)
  • Hammer (no hitbox present, sticks to the user without animation after getting knocked)
  • Hothead (gets charged when knocking the user, doesn't move)
  • Killing Edge (doesn't glow)
  • Special Flag (stuck in the animation unless getting knocked by someone)
  • Star Rod (star projectiles will not come out)

Items make you slide[]

These items when grabbed in this manner will make the character to move as if they were sliding.

Item effect persist[]

These items' effects will persist until the user gets KO'ed. Their visual effects seems to be missing too.

Stuck to Warp Star[]

One of the Isabelles will grab the Warp Star and will get stuck to the first frame of the flying animation. The user is immune to any attacks, but can be pushed by other players. If the user is pushed to off-stage, they won't get KO at all and will fall to infinity.

Item stuck to user[]

These items when grabbed in this manner will remain in the user's hand if they are being knocked off, but will also trigger the item too. The item's stage visual effect will persist too unless the user gets KO'ed. It can be performed again to hold two of the same items, and the items will do damage to each other repeatedly, which will damage the user too.

Bomber[]

One of the Isabelles will grab the Bomber and will get stuck in the standing animation, while the item will not explode at all and will be in its walking animation. When held and left to explode by its own, it will explode, but will still be present on the user's hand. The stage will become darker in colour.

Hocotate Bomb[]

One of the Isabelles will grab the Hocotate Bomb and can't use it by throwing. However, other players can hit the bomb until it explodes. The Hocotate Bomb will still be present on the user's hand, and the stage will turn yellowish in colour.

Smart Bomb[]

One of the Isabelles will grab the Smart Bomb. When tried to knock off from the user, it will explode, but the opponent will only receive the first hit of the bomb's explosion. The user doesn't get affected at all, and the explosion seems to have no hitbox. The stage will turn reddish in colour and the screen will be still shaking.

Performing this again will work as a normal explosion, damaging the user and other players, which will occur one after another for infinitely until the user gets KO'ed.

X Bomb[]

One of the Isabelles will grab the X Bomb. When tried to knock off from the user, it will explode, and will affect both the user and other players. However, the explosion seems to be in z-axis too while it is strictly supposed to damage in the x-axis and y-axis. The X Bomb will explode again after the previous explosion, and will disappear after that.
