The Guardian Orbitars (衛星ガーディアンズ Eisei Gādianzu) are Pit's new Down Special Move and Dark Pit's Down Special Move in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. For Pit, this replaces the Mirror Shield from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pit or Dark Pit calls upon two shield-shaped Orbitars to protect him from attacks on both sides.
Overview[]
The Orbitars create an energy shield when the move is used. During its use, any projectile that attempts to hit Pit/Dark Pit will be reflected with 1.5x the damage of the projectile. Guardian Orbitars also possesses a small push effect, making it useful for edgeguarding or relieving pressure. They will also stop their user from being attacked, though they can be broken by powerful attacks, which will disable its usage for ten seconds.
Guardian Orbitars possesses low startup lag, but high ending lag, regardless if it is ended voluntarily or not. On the other hand, if it is broken, ending lag is almost completely negated, allowing Pit/Dark Pit to counterattack quickly.

Custom Variations[]
Impact Orbitars[]
Impact Orbitars causes the Orbitars to damage foes and knock them back but at the cost of shielding and reflecting capabilities.
Strengths:
- Can discourage frontal and rear approaches
- Can punish rolling
- Edge-guarding method
- Can function like a down smash
Weaknesses:
- Will not shield or reflect
Impact Orbitars works like a down smash, attacking opponents on both sides of Pit/Dark Pit. Due to it hitting on both sides, it can punish rolling and keep opponents from approaching from in front or behind. The move is great for offensive uses but will not reflect projectiles, taking away a potentially useful defensive tool.
Amplifying Orbitars[]
The Amplifying Orbitars boost the power of projectiles it reflects, but the Orbitars can be broken more easily.
Strengths:
- Amplifies speed and damage of reflected projectiles
Weaknesses:
- Easy to break; unreliable
The move Amplifying Orbitars will make any reflected projectiles more powerful, providing a possible kill move if used correctly. The orbitars amplify the speed and damage of reflected projectiles but will break more easily; this can make them a bit unreliable because there is no telling if an incoming attack will break them or not, which could result in Pit/Dark Pit taking a blow.

Trophy Description[]
Guardian Orbitars are more defensive in nature than other Orbitars. When you fire a charged shot, they will create a shield that protects you and your friends. It's a good thing these float in the air on their own--they're actually ridiculously heavy.
Origin[]
Guardian Orbitars appear as a weapon in Kid Icarus: Uprising, falling under the Orbitar-class of weapons, which specialize in ranged combat (which is not seen in Smash Bros.). In Together Mode however, the Guardian Orbitars are capable of reflecting enemy fire by projecting a shield while charging shots, which is reflected in Pit/Dark Pit's usage of the attack.
