Super Smash Bros. Brawl allows Luigi to hold this move at full charge indefinitely, and if a partially charged one hits a wall, occasionally, Luigi will get stuck for a brief moment and have to pull himself free. Also, he makes a spring noise as his body bobs up and down. Something not very well known about Luigi's Green Missile in Brawl is that it gives Luigi a slight vertical boost if used right after a jump. It's unknown why this occurs, but it could have something to do with Luigi's falling speed, which is normally slow. If this trick is used when Luigi is metal or is wearing a Bunny Hood (both of which increase a character's falling speed), that boost will be much higher.

Floating Missile works much better as a recovery. Gravity stops affecting Luigi as he uses the move, so he travels in a straight horizontal path. The fast charge time means Luigi can get farther faster as well. The move deals less damage, but not much less than the considerable amount Green Missile delivers.

Floating Missile is great if a player wants recovery. Gravity stops effecting Luigi as he uses the move, so he travels in a straight horizontal path. The fast charge time means Luigi can get farther faster as well. The move deals less damage, so that is definitely a down side, but the regular Luigi Missile was already good for putting on damage anyway (except when it misfires) so the Floating Missile is pretty decent in terms of damage.

The Quick Missile is another reliable recovery due to the great distance and speed of the move even when uncharged. The move still deals considerable damage as well. The sliding has some good and bad qualities to it. Luigi can still damage opponents while sliding, but it can also make him vulnerable and easy to punish, similar to ending lag. Opponents can easily jump over Luigi and attack him while he is still sliding or getting up.

Now, the sliding has some good and bad qualities to it. Luigi can still damage opponents while sliding, but it can also make him vulnerable and easy to punish. Think of it as ending lag on the actual flight part of the move. Opponents can easily jump over Luigi and attack him while he is still sliding or getting up. Other than that, the Quick Missile is a great recovery move for Luigi.

The Green Missile (Japanese: Luigi Rocket - ルイージロケット, Ruiji Roketto) is Luigi's Side Special Move in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U. It can be charged for about four seconds, and once let go, Luigi is launched sideways like a rocket, the distance and damage being based on how long he charged.

Overview

There is a 1 out of 8 (12.5%) chance that the move will be a "misfire"; a large explosion is produced and Luigi is launched much farther than normal, with more power. It's not always beneficial, however. One possibility is Luigi charging the Green Missile and aiming at an opponent, who is standing near the edge of the stage. He fires, but the misfire activates and the opponent dodges. This can very often prove hard to recover from. It also leaves the Luigi exposed to edgeguarding. For Brawl, the misfire distance was reduced from the previous game, lowering the chance of an SD.

For some reason, computer-controlled Luigi's in Melee will always use Green Missile to recover, instead of Super Jump Punch. This may be related to the fact that Luigi's Super Jump Punch is completely vertical, with no horizontal movement, but the computer-controlled Luigi's will even use Green Missile when directly below a ledge. In Brawl, lower level CPU Luigi's will always use the Super Jump Punch to recover (since it can gain more horizontal distance), but the higher level CPUs will use Green Missile to recover from far away and combine it with their double jump and Super Jump Punch.

In Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U, The moved is slightly nerfed since charging so much can overcharge the move, failing the use. This leaves Luigi in a tired state, allowing heavy punish.

Floating Missile

Floating Missile

Green Missile can be customized to become Floating Missile in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U. It charges up quickly and goes in a straight line, but does less damage.

Strengths:

 • Fast charge.

 • Better horizontal recovery.

Weaknesses:

 • Less damage.
