The Gooey Bomb (Japanese: チューインボム, Chūin Bomu) is a new item in SSBB. It takes on the appearance of a glowing orange sphere in a blob of goo. When thrown, it can stick to anything, even characters. Eventually it starts flashing, then explodes, damaging anyone who gets hit. However, if it sticks to a character, they can pass it to others by running past them, making it sort of like a hot potato game. The blast can still be avoided by dodging with good timing, and some CPU opponents will repeatedly activate their shield when hit with a Gooey Bomb in an attempt to Perfect shield the explosion. Kirby, King Dedede and Wario can use their Inhale and Chomp moves to eat Gooey Bombs, but this will damage them. Kirby can also defend himself from a stuck Gooey Bomb by using the invincibility of his Stone move. The Villager in SSB4 can "defend" it by using Pocket. It is possible to start a chain reaction of explosions when two or more Gooey Bombs are attached to one character.

The Gooey Bomb is an original item, and does not hail from any series, but it may have been influenced by the No 74 ST Grenade, a real life bomb that could stick to tanks.

Trophy information

A bomb encased in a blob of goo. This material is highly adhesive, so you can throw it at and stick it to opponents. Once it's attached to someone, this nefarious device will explode after a set amount of time. Be wary, though--if you come into contact with the character carrying the bomb, it may stick to you. This truly is a high-risk item.

Trophy Description

This one is incredibly sticky, clinging to anyone or anything it touches before exploding. If you happen to be the "anyone," you can hand it off by passing or touching one of your foes--time to get real friendly! If there isn't anyone around, you'd better spend the next few seconds wisely...
