Glice (ガルアイス, Galice in Japan) is a recurring enemy in the Super Smash Bros. series, first appearing in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and returning in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. A Glice has the appearance of an average-sized black tire, divided into three sectors by a light-blue line, and has an eye in the center.
A Glice moves by rolling along floors, walls, and ceilings. When approached by a fighter, a Glice stops moving and opens its three sectors to shoot out ice around it. This attack can freeze the character into ice. Glices do not attempt to attack a frozen character, but it tries to freeze the fighter again once they have broken free. Glices can be very annoying on any level of difficulty by making it difficult for the player to reach places. When Glice attacks the player on cliffs or high platforms, the player can still be stuck in the ice and fall (sometimes being KO'd), or if the player escapes, they may be unable to recover. If a Glice is attacked on a wall or a ceiling, it drops off. Glices are susceptible to fire-elemental attacks.
Glices have two relatives, Glires and Glunders, associated with the elements of fire and thunder, respectively.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]
Glices are enemies in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, and appear in four stages, in order of: Research Facility II, The Glacial Peak, Subspace I, and lastly The Great Maze. Like most other enemies, Glices have their own trophy, and the player can obtain it by throwing a Trophy Stand at a Glice.
Equipping Flinch Resistance stickers seems to reduce the possibility of a fighter becoming frozen.

Description | |||
A soldier in the Subspace Army that moves easily up walls and slopes alike. Like a Glire, it sheds its outer shells to attack, but it releases waves of bitter cold instead of fire. This attack will freeze the player in a lump of ice if it hits. To escape quickly, move the Control Stick rapidly back and forth. This combative enemy will attack whenever it can. |
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS[]
Glices appear as common enemies in Smash Run, and behave identically as in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Glices now release icy mist, instead of ice shards surrounding by a mist, but this has no effect on its functionality.
