A gimp kill is a very low-percent kill that can put a really large swing on the outcome of a match. Fox's Shine spike , Marth's d-tilt and spike, and Falco's Down Throw are very effective for gimp kills, and Marth's game in particular has become very conducive to a variety of gimp kills recently with the new generation of pros such as Mew2King and KoreanDJ. Gimp kills range from large knockback moves, spikes, edge-guarding, as well as various other techniques. Gimp kills are most effective on characters with low vertical and/or slow recoveries, like Link and Donkey Kong.

Falco's Down Throw is an effective gimp kill only if he grabs his opponent while he's standing on the edge of the stage. It usually works on all characters, including heavy characters. If done correctly, Falco will do a very powerful Judo Slam and quickly shoot his opponent down so far that they won't be able to recover no matter how good their Recovery is. This is a sweetspot of Falco's Down Throw and will be considered a Meteor Smash. This method works on most stages except for Onett, Big Blue, Mute City, Brinstar Depths, Planet Zebes (only when acid is present), Icicle Mountain , and Yoshi's Island (only when blocks are still). There's a rare chance of failure of this method so Falco must spike his opponent or Edge-hog, depending on the character and the effectiveness of their Recovery. Fox can also do this but his opponent would need a lot more damage for it to work. Although most gimp kills are hard to master, Falco's gimp kill is one of the quickest, strongest, and easiest gimp kills of all. It can kill anybody at a damage percentage as low as 10%. A simpler way to do this is to Camp, and grab your opponent when you have the chance to get on the edge of the stage. Roll Dancing will come in handy.
