Forums: Index Brawl Talk Snake- what do you think about him?

So, what does everyone think about Snake? I think it was cool that they put him in Brawl. He also has a very annoying and useful combination of explosives. Any other thoughts? Jje92 (talk) 02:34, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

He's a useless gimmick in my opinion. Dexington (talk) 02:36, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

He has the most projectiles of any character, and has pretty much infinite recovery though, if you use his explosives. He also can be hard to approach, because of his many explosives (motion senors, C4, remote missile, mortar)Jje92 (talk) 02:52, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Using his explosives only increases his damage though. Sure, you might make it back, but then you'll have to deal with your opponent at a high percentage, and that's not good. His strong attacks, variable projectiles, and great recovery give him some great advantages, but he's also quite slow, can be comboed easily, and he has poor jumps. An upper middler in my opinion. - GalaxiaD (talk) 04:41, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Dexington's right. He's just a gift to a friend and wasn't wanted anyway. I find him a boring and bland character that took the space of a more deserving third-party, or even a more deserving first-party.SonicROBTrainer (talk) 05:22, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

He's not a bad character, people focus too much on his projectiles and his so called "advanced techniques", Not enough on his tilts and aerials which come out quite fast and strong. I'd rate him a 6/10 for easily killed from Meteor Smashes(his infinite recovery requires a certain amount of time which he doesn't have) - Hatake91 (talk) 22:23, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Snake does have his weaknesses, but I agree that his tilts and aerials come out fast and strong. He is slow, though. I think he has a lot of potential for those who take the time to learn him. He's not my favorite by a long shot though. Jje92 (talk) 15:06, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Snake's not the best character in Brawl (aside from fighting abilities), and Krystal and Megaman are worthier than him. However, he's not a waste of a character slot like Yoshi, Pikachu, Falco, Lucario, Captain Falcon, the Kongs, and Jigglypuff are. Snake is one of those characters like Ness, Lucas, Marth, Roy, Mewtwo, Ike, Mr. Game & Watch, Red, R.O.B., Zamus, etc. where they can be at least somewhat neat, but nobody (or very few people) would care if they were never playable in Smash. The only reason Snake is in is because his creator wanted him in Melee so badly, but since it was so far in development, Sakurai put him in Brawl.

So Snake, a character that has nothing to do with Nintendo, is more worthy than Pikachu, the mascot of Nintendo's second largest franchise, and Donkey Kong, the main character of a popular Nintendo series?SonicROBTrainer (talk) 00:01, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Sonic was put in for a much much much better reason than Snake. He was in because of the high demand from fans, not because Sega told Sakurai that Sonic should be in Brawl. --TStick (talk) 18:26, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I can say Snake can be an annoying character. Projectiles, his snakedashing, if you know how to use them right. I like using him, but not competitvely much, since I don't wanna risk being cheap. Or something like that. Zexas A. (talk) 18:43, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I think Snake is awesome! He is strong, I like his fighting style, he has some decent projectiles, and I don't really think his slowness is too much of an issue. Maxiscool (talk) 18:50, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Falco, Pikachu, and Falcon are NOT wastes of space. They are very good characters if you learn how to use them right. In fact, I believe they're better than Snake. - GalaxiaD (talk) 22:52, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I wonder what ijit posted that comment. I want to deliver a Falcon PAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNCH right to his face. Oops this might get erased. Im too violent lol.

snakes really annoying exspicaly his final smash he has to much explosives

^^ That wasn't me. I think Snake is actually VERY good, I put him in top tier. Sure you can edge guard him, but he's very heavy, and you'll have a hard time getting him off the edge in the first time. ftilt Knee Locks, up tilt is fast and powerful, neutral a is good, i just don't like his fair, because you need to double jump to even pull it off. - Ashran111 (talk) 23:32, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

When I said those characters were waste of space, I didn't say they were weak. I'm not a huge fan of Falco, but he's a good chain thrower, has a fast spike, a decent boost smash, a pretty useful down B, the highest inital jump, good aerials, his blaster is arguably the best, etc. However, he doesn't seem important enough (or at least have a creative moveset) to have gotten a spot in Melee and Brawl. --TStick (talk) 23:48, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

That's what I thought about jiggly puff, falcon, and ness in SSB. oh and marth and roy in SSBM, like who the hell are they? - Ashran111 (talk) 23:53, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

At least Falco has done something in a Nintendo game, unlike Snake. I'm sorry, but Falco is way more deserving than Snake, Sonic, and even Jigglypuff.SonicROBTrainer (talk) 23:58, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't think that any characters are wastes of slots except maybe Bowser, Dedede and Wario. Snake is definitely unique, and his fighting style is revolutionary (as Sakurai said) and has the power of being very evasive and powerful. He does have his weaknesses, as every character does, but he definitely is not a waste of game memory. Jje92 (talk) 00:12, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

The Kirby franchise was lacking in reps before Brawl, and both of the Kirby newcomers have original movesets, so Dedede isn't a waste. But Pikachu, Yoshi, and Jigglypuff who are all species characters are worthier than the main villian of the Mario series and one of the most creative Mario characters? --TStick (talk) 00:29, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

This page is about Snake, but as far as those characters, I'm just looking at how well they play. And I don't think any of them (except maybe Dedede) are worth playing. That's my opinion though, and I've seen some pretty good stuff done with them on thier side. But Snake is definitely special. And as far as where they're coming from, why should ROB be in Brawl? But I think he's ok. Jje92 (talk) 00:40, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

R.O.B. is in Brawl because, unlike Snake, he is important to Nintendo's history. Smash Bros is not about having good characters with fancy attacks and high tier placement, it's about celebrating Nintendo's history, along with a few third parties that helped sell the company's products. I fact, R.O.B. and Mario are the most deserving characters. I just can't see why all of you see Bowser and Falco as wastes of spce when Snake is the least deserving character on the roster. I'm not trying to bash Snake, but he is nowhere near deserving, compared to everyone else on the roster.SonicROBTrainer (talk) 17:56, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Snake had some NES games, so I don't get why you said that Konami (who is behind the Metal Gear series in which Snake was usually the main character) wasn't one of those 3rd parties that helped Nintendo. --TStick (talk) 22:46, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

I believe this forum has become a madhouse because people are talking about how important other character are in then others. No one cares. This is a forum about SNAKE IN BRAWL. Not comparing his importance in other games. Zmario (talk) 22:52, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
