It appears visually similar to Bowser's Fire Breath, though with smaller flames, longer range and more damage. It would appear that they have more priority over Bowser's, as they defeat Bowser's Fire Breath when faced upon one another because these flames come out faster. The stream of flames can be directed up or down by tilting the control stick in a particular direction. The flame dies down the longer the attack is used, but it will never stop, despite the flames becoming extremely small as long as the player keeps holding the B button. This move is fitting to Charizard, and can be said to be its signature move.

Flamethrower is a very common Fire attack in the Pokémon games. Its animation usually depicts it as appearing in one unbroken line of fire, similar to its properties in the Super Smash Bros. series. It is also Charizard's attack as a Poké Ball summon in the previous two Super Smash Bros. games.
