Event 51: The Showdown is the final Event Match in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This Event Match gives the player a choice to play as any playable character before the match, like most event matches. The match is a 3 stock match, and there are 3 opponents, Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo. It takes place on Final Destination, which is unlocked after clearing this. To get this Event Match, clear the first 50 events. Highly considered to be the hardest event in Smash history.

Rewards

After beating this event, Final Destination is unlocked as a playable VS. mode stage. A special message is awarded if the the event is cleared without losing a life, saying, "You cleared Event 51, The Showdown, with no falls!' Also, the player is rewarded with the Final Destination trophy.

Trivia

  • The three characters fought in this match have at least one attack that wields darkness, possibly representing evil.
  • The final event match in Brawl is very similar to this event match, with Giant Mario representing Giga Bowser and Sonic and Snake representing Mewtwo and Ganondorf. The event match is also fought on the Final Destination stage.
  • When Chansey is released from a Poké Ball, only the eggs with battle items or explosive ones will be thrown to the stage, not healing ones, since no healing items appear at all.
