Event Match 38: Super Mario Bros. 2 is one of the fifty one Event matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Layout

The player is pitted against Mario, Luigi and Peach on Mushroom: Kingdom II on a 1 vs 3 match. While it may seem everything is on disadvantage, the opponents have Friendly Fire activated.

As the title says, this event is related to Super Mario Bros. 2, the characters and the stage, namely fighting against Mario, Luigi, and Peach on the stage Mushroom Kingdom II.

-Since friendly fire has been switched on, the computers are at a disadvantage because they are vulnerable to each others' attacks, which can actually rack up damage if you evade properly (e.g. sidestepping [[Peach Bomber]] correctly), yet this is difficult. Instead, an easier option is to choose Kirby and repeatedly use [[Stone]] above the CPUs on the middle platforms. You could alternatively choose Roy and use his Up-B ([[Blazer]]) or standard-B ([[Flare Blade]]). Charge Flare Blade as little as possible as it's strong enough to KO the CPUs at low damages, and  the longer it's charged, the longer Roy is left vulnerable to attack. Also, any CPU Luigi cannot use his Up-B recovery, limiting him to only his [[Side Special]]; try spiking him down one of the 2 pits on the stage and he's likely to not come back. Another general strategy is to try to take the CPUs one at a time, as they will easily overpower you as a team.
