Deflicker is a setting in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl. It adjusts the way the screen appears when the game is played. When deflicker is turned off, the appearance is sharper, and the screen will flicker a bit if the player is not using the Wii Component Video Cable with an HDTV. When deflicker is turned on, the appearance of the screen is softer; this is the default setting.

Trivia[]

  • It is recommended that users of the Wii Component Video Cable and an HDTV turn deflicker off, because the cable prevents the undesirable flickering caused by the interlaced display format of the standard cable. Leaving deflicker on while using the component cable will needlessly blur the image.
