The debug menu is a special menu in Melee that players can access with the use of an Action Replay. The code that accesses the debug menu depends on the version of Melee they have.

Function

The debug menu was a feature that was used by the developers to test certain aspects in the game. The developers never removed the debug menu from the game. As a result, hackers were able to access the menu with cheats and codes. The debug menu allows a player to do many different things in the game. The player can gain access to any character, stage, item, and mode in the game. They can also view all the trophies, character endings, and other features. (it is highly recommended that you DO NOT use this with a memory card plugged in)

Debug menu exclusives

The debug menu contains characters, stages, and other various options that were not available in the normal game. Below is a list of features that can only be accessed through the debug menu.

  • Some of the non-playable characters can be used as regular characters like the Fighting Wire Frames, Master Hand, Crazy Hand, Giga Bowser and Sandbag.
  • The debug menu contains some special stages that are normally not playable like the Test stage and the Adventure mode stages. Some of the stages on the list cannot be accessed at all though.
  • Players will have the ability to view artwork that was not included in the final game. They can also view and obtain the Samus Unmasked and the Mario and Yoshi trophy.
  • The players can set custom rules for matches like the size of a character, the color of a character and the action of the computer player.
  • Ditto can be used in the Poké ball (All he does is spin once and disapear )
  • AIR can be accessed, which restricts character jumping height.
