This sacred device comes in three parts. Gather them all to assemble the weapon and begin firing high-powered beams that ignore fighters' shields!

The Daybreak (ジェネシス Jeneshisu?, named Genesis in Japan) is a combining item from Kid Icarus that appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It allows the user to fire a powerful beam when fully assembled.

Overview[]

The Daybreak functions identically to the Dragoon, being separated into three parts that spawn occasionally around the stage at random locations. Players must "attack" it to collect it, which is indicated by a small icon to the left of the damage meter. The parts can be knocked out of the a player if they sustain enough damage or knockback, allowing others to grab it. If the parts fall off the stage, they will reappear onstage after some time.

Upon collecting the three parts, the Daybreak appears fully assembled in the character's hands. During this time, they can move with a control scheme similar to the Cracker Launcher: tilting in a direction initiates walking, tapping initiates dashing, and tapping the opposite direction turns the character around. The assembled Daybreak can be dropped by attacking the user enough, which will enable others to pick it up and use it.

When pressing the attack button or attempting to drop or throw the Daybreak, the weapon will fire a single beam that hits multiple times and deals a whopping 69% if all hits connect before launching the opponent with high knockback. The blast completely ignores shields, and has KO potential if used when opponents are at close to the side blast lines.

The Daybreak covers a wide range horizontally, but cannot hit opponents who are vertically above, making it easy for characters with good vertical recoveries to avoid the blast. In addition, it is risky to use off-stage, as the user cannot use their midair jump and will fall at their normal speed while firing, making it possible for them to be KO'd.

The Daybreak parts appear once per match, and may not appear every match. They will not appear if a Smash Ball is in play, but will appear if the Dragoon parts are in play as well. In Team Battles, parts are shared between teammates, with the player grabbing the final part the one who uses the Daybreak.

Trophy Description[]

Daybreaktrophy3DS

A weapon of great and terrible power. The name Daybreak might sound pretty cheerful, but in truth this weapon is destructive enough to doom the world. Unable to be used until all three parts are assembled, it's best to keep this out of your opponent's hands...

Trivia[]

  • There is a glitch that gives infinite ammo to the Daybreak by doing the Nabbit glitch.
