โ€œ Dark Pit is Pit's echo fighter. His abilities are mostly the same as Pit's, but his hair and clothes are different colors, he summons different weapons, and celebrates victory to a different tune. โ€
โ€”Description from the Super Smash Blog.

  • Power of Flight has no hitboxes, leaving Dark Pit vulnerable to gimping.
  • Guardian Orbitars can only be held out for a limited time, and will break if they are hit with a projectile or attack that is too powerful.
  • Low air speed.

In competitive play[]

At the beginning of Ultimate's lifespan, Pit and Dark Pit were seen as characters who had improved significantly from 3DS/Wii U, with the universal increased mobility, landing lag reduction on all aerials, and new KO moves fixing many of their core problems from the previous game. However, their representation remained small due to how straightforward the characters are: professional players believe Pit and Dark Pit lacked an explosive factor in their kits, especially when compared to the rest of the cast, leading to the archetype that they were "honest" characters with average capabilities all around. Despite solid results from players such as Lucky, professionals such as Dabuz and ESAM labeled them as a mid tier. In the current metagame, although Pit and Dark Pit received buffs in Patch 8.0.0 and still saw decent results at a regional level, their player base continued to shrink, with Lucky picking up Pyra/Mythra. As a result, opinions on the characters have remained largely the same.

Classic Mode: Created Warriors[]

Dark Pit's opponents (with the exception of Pit) are characters that were man-made creations or genetically enhanced fighters, a reference to his origin.

Role in World of Light[]

Dark Pit was among the fighters that were summoned to fight the army of Master Hands.

Dark Pit was present when Galeem unleashed his beams of light. Dark Pit was flying alongside Pit to escape the beams, but after Palutena was vaporized, they lost their Power of Flight and fell victim to the beams as well. They were both placed under Galeem's imprisonment along with the rest of the fighters, excluding Kirby, as the pink puff escaped on his Warp Star.

Dark Pit was one of many of the fighters that fell under Dharkon's control upon Galeem's first defeat. He can be found in the Dracula's Castle sub-area. His location is on the roof.

Trivia[]

  • Dark Pit is one of two echo fighters to have not debuted in Ultimate, but instead in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The other echo fighter is Lucina, Marth's echo fighter.
    • Also the only Echo Fighter to appear in the World Of Light opening.
  • The reason Dark Pit was even created in the first place is likely based on what is now considered Pit's "Dark Pit" costume, originating in Brawl.
