Chansey (ラッキー, Rakkī, Lucky in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

Creature description

Chansey appeared as one of the original 151 Pokémon in Pokémon Red & Blue. A player could only obtain a Chansey in the Safari Zone and the Unknown Dungeon. When the second generation games came around, Chansey gained an evolution, Blissey. Chansey would evolve into Blissey once she had max happiness. Also, when the fourth generation games came about, Chansey received a pre-evolved form named Happiny. Chansey has also made numerous appearances in the anime. Most of the time, Chansey can be seen with Nurse Joy in the Pokémon Centers. Chansey aides the Nurse Joys in operations.

One notable feature about Chansey is the egg in her pouch. Chansey can use that egg to heal herself or other Pokémon and humans. She can also use the egg for defensive purposes.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon

Chansey makes her first debut in Super Smash Bros.. In this game, Chansey uses Softboil as her attack. Chansey will give up to 3 eggs. Those eggs contain items in them.

As a stage element

Chansey also appears in the Saffron City stage and gives eggs when she appears out of the door. Also, she cures a small amount of health by touching players.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon

Chansey makes another appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Chansey's attack is identical tp the attack she used in the last game, but she will give up to five eggs this time. These eggs, being normal Eggs, will either heal, contain an item, or explode. Chansey can be KO'd in SSBM by any character or by items. Nothing is rewarded for KO'ing Chansey. Chansey does not harm any character in this game.

As a stage element

A giant balloon of Chansey (in actuality the 3D model of Chansey used in Pokémon Stadium for Nintendo 64) is one of the many floating and bending "platforms" that comprise the Poké Floats stage. Compared to the other balloons, Chansey's balloon appears and disappears rather rapidly and jerkily.

As a trophy

Chansey features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:

Chansey
Renowned for its kind temperment, Chansey has been known to offer injured creatures its highly nutritious egg to aid their recovery. Legend has it that this charitable creature brings happiness to anyone who captures it. All Chansey are female, and every now and then one is found in possession of a Lucky Egg.
