Bonkers (ボンカース, Bonkāsu) is a mini-boss from the Kirby series. He first appears in the Nintendo Entertainment System game, Kirby's Adventure.

Origin[]

Bonkers is a simian enemy that is mostly the only way Kirby could get his Hammer ability, a slow but powerful ability capable of dealing heavy damage, akin to Ganondorf's Smash incarnation.

Besides trying to whack Kirby with his hammer, Bonkers may also throw explosive coconuts at Kirby.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

BonkersTrophy

Bonkers appears as a trophy. It can be collected as a random trophy. He is also available as sticker (in his Squeak squad/Mouse Attack artwork) which powers up Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede's weapon based attacks.

Trophy information[]

A large enemy who wields a giant hammer as a weapon. Bonkers battles you with several moves -- his hammer attack and coconut throw could be considered his specialties. Kirby can inhale Bonkers to learn Hammer and Smash techniques. Not many know this, but Hammer Kirby can also break walls and pound down stakes.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS[]

Bonkers in Smash Run

Bonkers is a rare enemy in Smash Run. He uses a variety of attacks, a few of which involve his hammer. For his Hammer Swing move, Bonkers moves while spinning his hammer in a circle. For his Hammer Flip move, Bonkers charges up a fiery hammer to inflict heavy fire damage. Aside from using his hammer, Bonkers can pound the player's fighter, burying them, throw explosive coconuts if the player's fighter is at a far enough distance from him, or attack by jumping in place. Bonkers can endure a lot of hits and does not flinch easily, akin to Bowser. However, Bonkers' attacks have a lot of endlag.

Trophy description[]

The Bonkers trophy is a Challenge reward, for reaching a distance of at least 300m (984 ft.) in the Home-Run Contest. Bonkers looks like quite a lot like a gorilla and swings a giant hammer with a high launch potential. If he hits you with his own Hammer Flip attack, it's an instant KO. If that isn't bad enough, he also throws exploding coconuts. Bonkers is seriously out to ruin your day.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]

Bonkers appears as a Attack type spirit. Predictably, his spirit battle involves Donkey Kong who is equipped with a Hammer in his purple alternate costume. The battle takes place on Kongo Jungle and forest Stage when you fight, as he often shows up in forest themed areas.
