Big Urchins are enemies in the Mario series.

Big Urchin

Character description

It is a colossal sub-species of the Urchin enemy that first appears in the game New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Big Urchins only appear in World 4 of said game, and just like regular Urchins, they will float up and down, trying to poke Mario and the others. However, unlike the regular Urchins, they are almost invincible, only vulnerable to a Star. Also unlike the regular Urchins, their pupils follow Mario's movements. They mostly appear alongside the regular Urchins.

Mariiowii

In the game New Super Mario Bros. U, they appear in one of the Sparkling Waters levels, Urchin Shoals, retaining their behavior from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Big Urchins appear in the spin-off game, Mario Golf: World Tour on the Cheep Cheep Lagoon course, where they serve as obstacles for the golfers. They will also appear as background characters on the Sparkling Waters course.

As their name and appearance suggest, they are based on real-life Sea Urchins.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Big Urchin appears as one of the stage hazards in the stage hazard in the Mushroom Kingdom U stage. They appear on top of some Water Spouts and damage any players that touch them.

Trophy Description

"Many fancy restaurants serve sea urchins as a delicacy, but they're more of an obstacle in Mario's world. And the friendly looking Big Urchins have the sharpest spikes! They're also, you know, huge. They probably have to be careful not to poke each other while they wait for Mario.
