Alolan Whip, called Rope Swing in Japanese, is Incinceroar's Side Special. Incineroar lunges forwards with its arm outstretched; if it grabs an opponent, a set of boxing ring ropes will appear behind Incineroar. Incineroar will then throw the opponent into the ropes, attacking them when they bounce back to him.

If the special attack button is pressed too early after throwing them, Incineroar will hit them with a back-body-drop that will launch them upwards; if the button is pressed with incorrect timing or not pressed at all, Incineroar will take damage and the opponent will not be launched. If the button is pressed with precise timing, Incineroar will hit the opponent with a powerful lariat attack that launches them a great distance. If the move fails or cancels, say another player hits Incineroar or the attacked player is hit by another player, then Incineroar will crouch down and make a shrugging pose.

Origin[]

Though the move Alolan Whip doesn't exist in the Pokémon games, it is however a parody of a pro wrestler move known as Irish Whip. The "Alola" part of the name comes from the name of the Alola Region, in which Incineroar debuted. The pose that Incineroar makes if the move fails is similar to the way that Team Skull Grunts or Guzma from the Pokémon games sit.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only one of Incineroar's moves that deals Recoil damage.
