Air Slash (エアスラッシュ, Air Slash) is Shulk's up special move. Shulk will perform two slashes that propel him into the air.
Shulk will first do a vertical slash, which propels him into the air, carrying opponents into the air. If the attack button is pressed again, Shulk will do an outward slash that knocks opponents away and makes him jump slightly, adding a little extra recovery potential.
Air Slash functions similarly to Dolphin Slash with larger horizontal extent as Shulk's blade is longer, granting decent vertical distance but little to no horizontal distance, which can leave Shulk helpless if knocked far from the stage horizontally. However, Air Slash is a more viable attack option due to hitting twice and dealing knockback with the final hit. Shulk can perform a Reverse Air Slash, though this does not affect knockback or damage.
Air Slash does 11-12% damage with some knockback, with the damage increasing to 16% while in Buster mode and increasing its knockback with Smash mode, making it a very reliable KO move at over 90% (a damage level not too hard to achieve with Buster). Shulk can increase the vertical distance gained with Jump. However, he must have his second jump in order to be successful, as he loses height while summoning his Monado Arts in midair.

Mighty Air Slash is one of Shulk's Up Special Moves that can be used via customizations. Shulk does the same as the default, with less range and more power. However, it's easier to do the follow up attack.

Air Slash was one of Shulk's physical arts in Xenoblade Chronicles. He would leap in the air and slash at the opponent. The attack would inflict a status called Break and would also slow the enemy down if a successful hit was made to the side of an enemy.
- Using Air Slash will give the Monado a pink glow, to show that it was an art which caused break in Xenoblade Chronicles.
- Using the Jump Art will still increase the height of the two custom variations.
