The A button on various Nintendo controllers. From left to right: Nintendo 64 and Nintendo GameCube controllers, the Wii remote and the Classic Controller

The A button ("a button" on the Classic Controller) is one of the larger buttons on each controller where it is present. On the Nintendo 64 controller it is blue, on the Nintendo GameCube controller it is teal, and on both the Wii Remote and Classic Controller it is transparent. In all installments of Super Smash Bros., the A Button is used mostly for executing attacks. When playing with the Wii Remote held sideways however, the 2 button acts as its A button, performing smash attacks (when pressed with the D-Pad or the 1 Button) and confirming selections on menus, whereas the actual A Button is used for taunts.
